Well with virus lock down my lovely wife and I haven’t been eating out. My sister in law came down to visit us and wanted some seafood. We heard about this restaurant from friends so we decided to give it a try. Luvans opens at 4:00 and is limited seating so we decided to arrive early. Let this be a warning. If you decide to come get here before 4 cause people arrive and start lining up to get in. At exactly at 4 doors open up and you are let in. Waitress is at the door telling what table to sit at. There is no waiting area or bar, so if there aren’t any seats they ask you to come back later. The out side the restaurant doesn’t look any thing fancy. But insides are done in beautiful wood. Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted anything to drink (only non alcohol beverages are served) BUT YOU CAN BRING IN YOUR OWN BEER AND/OR WINE !!!! Waitress took our order and left. Now here is a heads up ... service is a little slow because there is only one cook ,( the owner) and he cooks only one table at a time. After about 20 minutes waitress came over with our fried mushrooms and hush puppies. Now here is where the meal begins. These were the best fried mushrooms that I have every eaten. So juicy and the size was crazy big. They were so plentiful and big we could not finish them. The hush puppies were just good. Nothing to write about and go gogo about !!! Another 10-15 minutes the main treats have arrived. This is a Thursday evening and they had a seafood plater for $10.00 ... yes $10.00. Both my lovely wife and SIL ordered the seafood special It was overflowing with seafood .. flounder, Scallops, Oysters, Shrimp and Deviled Crab. It was so much food they took sone home. I got the senior oyster plate. (This was also $10.00). This also was HUGE . I can’t imagine what a large oyster platter is like. Like my dinner companions I took some of my dinner home These were the best fried oysters I have ever had and the biggest. It’s worth the wait for this delicious food. Best seafood in Conway/Myrtle Beach area (MOHO).. Just want to let you know get there early and wait in line. Be ready to wait awhile. Don’t go with large crowd for as I stated earlier he cooks one table at a time. Bring your own drinks (alcohol and non alcohol) Everything is fried but you can ask for it to be broiled for an upcharge. And finally.. THIS IS CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT... no cards or checks. CASH ONLY. Waitress is an A++ ( there is only one waitress but she does an excellent job Food is A+++. This will be my new go to place for seafood. Give it a try. You won’t be...
Read moreWe had heard about this eatery and were eager to finally be able to go. It is rather in an out of the way location and could have been easily missed if not for their sign. The building looks like a little home, the inside is one large room with some tables and chairs ... maybe less than 10. If you're looking for ambiance this is not the place to go. They are BYOB and offer mainly seafood but do offer some non-fishy items, eg. burgers, ribs. It appears that most of the seafood is fried but certain items can be broiled for a small up-charge. A complimentary basket of hushpuppies are brought upon being seated. I ordered shrimp (one of the few types of seafood I'll eat) in a cream sauce with white rice and side salad; my fiancé had a seafood platter that came with 2 sides. Even though my preference is beef, I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp dinner. I thought the shrimp was slightly over done but it did not detract from the flavor and the portion was generous. My fiancé s dinner was very generous. The seafood was comprised of flounder, shrimp, scallops, & oysters. All were tender, sweet, and deep fried to perfection. Their coating was just right, giving a light crisp and delicate flavor without overpowering the flavor of the seafood. He was insistent that I try some of the items on his plate especially since I'm really not a 'fish' person and he wants to broaden my palette. He's tried unsuccessfully in the past to have me eat oysters; something I swore to never eat again since I was 10. After finally caving to his urging, I was absolutely surprised how delicious it was! It was so good that I snagged another off his plate. Luvans is a place for great fried seafood at a good value. I know we will...
Read moreThis unpretentious establishment seemingly has little to offer except for good food and friendly service. Located just outside of Conway on US-701 this log structure cut back in a grove of trees sits with a single red door and a narrow window with an “open” sign. Blink and you will miss it. Inside is a bare cement floor, open beamed ceiling and seating for about 30 on rows of folding tables covered with oilcloths and slat back chairs. Reservations are required and cash only. We arrived Tuesday for dinner and found the place relatively quiet with only two other tables in use and after a bit they to emptied and we were alone. Drinks and homemade hush puppies were soon brought to our table. These were larger hush puppies with a cornmeal taste and texture with onions. Different from other hush puppies we have had but good. We ordered the Fruit of the Sea seafood platter with a choice of potato, coleslaw, flounder, shrimp, scallops, oysters and deviled crab still in the half shell. Seafood comes fried or for an extra cost broiled, which we choice. Food took approximately 45 minutes with every single item made from scratch and tasting delicious. Large portion fed two of us with an ample serving of everything lightly seasoned and flavorful. Flounder filets were flaky, deviled crab creamy, shrimp and scallops broiled to perfection. Not big on oysters but they were doable, love the slaw and their homemade fries were thicker, soft chips. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks refilled. Living only a mile down the road this fish camp will certainly be our go to place for visiting family...
