At 11:45 am: I placed a Cheeseburger Plate call in order for pick up. The person that took the order said to pick in 15 minutes. At 12:00 pm: I arrived to find a few patrons in line for dine in orders ahead of me and I see my "to go" order sitting next to the cashier ready for pick up. At 12:05 pm: Waiting further, I got the attention of the cashier made mention that I have a pick up order that is ready on the table beside the counter where all pick orders are ready for pick up and payment. The cashier looked past the line to me and said I still have to stay in line to pick up a "to go" order. That seemed odd since all food service venues that I frequent have a "to go" pick up spot. Why did I call in orders in to save time from my own business? At 12:25 pm: I paid for the order and returned to my business to have the lunch I ordered almost 45 minutes ago. Did I mention all orders for "dine in" came straight out of the kitchen to the patrons hot off the grill. At 12:45 pm: I am back inside my business ready to sit down to have a cheeseburger plate. It's cold now. Nice Lunch! I had to reheat the fries and meat in addition to the time and effort to call in and wait for pick up. Not a time saver. At 1:15 pm: To quote a line from Edgar Allen Poe's, The Raven, "Nevermore". The food quality is something I always raved about and I know my customers frequent Mac Smith's store because of that. Please rethink the "To Go"...
Read moreI went back to a place today that I hadn't been to for a while and discovered that I had waited way too long. I was just passing by and noticed that the parking lot was full and that the roads in every direction were lined with parked cars. So I changed my mind about my lunch plans and pulled into Mac's Country Store. I was there a little before noon so I had my food quickly. As I enjoyed my two hot dog plate with slaw and onion rings I realized why the line was to the door by now. Yet Mac served everyone efficiently and pleasantly. As I ate and watched the crowd I had an epiphany. This will not be a passing by place for me, it will be a destination spot. Truly, these are the best hot dogs, bird dogs, and hamburgers in the area. Way to go Mac Smith , you rock. To quote Mickey Mouse, we'll see...
Read moreFound this place on Google looking for something in the area. The reviews were positive so we decided to give it a try and. Glad we did! The burgers were delicious. I got a double thinking a single would leave me a little hungry. I got the plate that came with two sides and went with double onion rings. The onion rings were great (thick and the breading stayed on them). The only thing we ordered that I felt could be better were the fries. They were cooked well (not over or under cooked) but very plain (no seasoning). This is an easy remedy however by salting them yourself at the table. I enjoyed the relaxed down home atmosphere. I will definitely stop by again in the future. Oh, and I...
