Delicious home-cooked seafood & fresh water cat, as well as gator, froglegs. Clamp, flounder, shrimp (boiled & fried), deviled crab & more. There's chicken strips & hamburgers for those who prefer more non-aquatic flavors. A side of good grits & basket of hushpuppies accompanied the meal - came before we ordered so we had something to nibble on while we made up our minds. The place is fantastic in an old country farm type of style, with a laid back atmosphere & large open eating areas inside. This place is set up to handle large crowds, and they can. Save some time to wander the grounds and visit the animals. Take some change with you so you can get some goat kibble and feed the birds. The goats are ALWAYS hungry, and throw some back over the heads of the big ones that pig themselves to the front & you can watch the little bitty pygmy (I guess) goats behind them scrabble to get some food. They'll appreciate it! And then there are the birds - duck, goose, swan & peacocks. You might even get lucky enough to watch a male strut his stuff! and do his wiggle-waggle, waving his feathers at a bored female who always seems unimpressed with his show. It's a GREAT place to bring kids, the atmosphere friendly, and a great place to go, in my opinion, especially if you like fried fish, Southern style.

Read moreMy family has been trying to get me to eat here for years, but because they are an hour from my house, I never went. I finally got to go yesterday for the first time with my sister, and it did not disappoint. First, I agree unless you don't mind waiting, get there early. We got there an hour before they opened, and there were people already there waiting. You can give them your name, and they will text you when your table is ready. That allows you to walk around and look at the animals. We enjoyed watching the peacocks, ducks, and geese. We fed them a handful of food. There are also donkeys and goats. It was a pleasant day with a good breeze, so we sat outside on the porch. There is a good bit of seating there. The property is very well maintained . The inside of the restaurant is kind of rustic. Typical fish camp atmosphere. You are served some of the best grits I've eaten in a long time and a basket of Hush Puppies once you're seated. Our waitress was very nice. She came back several times to check on us. The food, well, all I can say was everything looked good. It was hard to decide. We both had the crab stuffed flounder, fries, and Cole Slaw. It didn't disappoint. OMG. So good. I do wish they were closer. I would probably go a couple of times a month. I'm already looking forward to...
Read moreOn a suggestion from a friend who lives in Georgia, we made the 40 minute trip to Old McDonald's Fish Camp to see what the hype was about. We got there right at 4 when they open and there were already people on the wait list. Though it was raining, the charm of this place was not lost. They have a huge pond and a smaller duck pond with peacocks even a little bridge you cross to get into the restaurant. After being seated, we learned that a bowl of buttered grits and a basket of fresh hushpuppies was free to every table. Having heard this was our first time there, our waitress walked us through the menu and gave us time to consider our options. We settled on the Fish Camp platter as it has a variety of everything. Oh my goodness ! When that platter came out, you'd have thought we were feeding an army! The portions were huge and enough for 2 days worth of meals. The fish was fresh and delicious, the gator tail was as good as somewhere in Florida and the scallops...well... I'm still thinking of those and how soon I can get back to have them again. This unpretentious, nostalgic, dining hall was an absolute joy to experience and we will be back. Next time we bring friends! If you live in SC or any border town in Georgia, you've got to check this spot out, you're...
