South End Bistro — Restaurant in South Carolina

Undiscovered Gem. Finally tried this restaurant (had been meaning to for quite a while) and were very glad we did! It looks nice but plain from the front, but indoors it's very attractively decorated and outback is a whole different atmosphere! We ate indoors - very "chic", loved the ceiling (and other) decor. Good range of menu selections. We ordered the pizza (decided to take a risk) . . . and couldn't believe it was excellent. We're from Connecticut and have yet to find really good (for us) pizza. This was REALLY good! The crust, the sauce, everything was delicious. After dinner, we went out back to the outdoor bar to have an after dinner drink. We really wanted to like this restaurant and support this out-of-the-way location, however, the entree was extremely disappointing. We sat outside and were surprised how cool it was compared to the current PI temps. Server was super friendly and brought us drinks quickly. She offered a featured item and was well versed on the standard menu. We both ordered Filet and Shrimp ($38). All was good BUT BOTH OF THE FILETS WERE SO TOUGH/CHEWY WE QUESTIONED IF THEY WERE REAL FILETS! I’m guessing a well disguised lesser quality meat. Well, you may not have picked South End Bistro - but you should have! You should! Small, intimate, with a wonderful outdoor Veranda! To start - weather permitting - enjoy dinner outdoors - such a nice setting - we enjoy great acoustical music created by a young man (Jarred??) - nicely done! Drinks & Dinner were awesome......our cuisine as uniquely prepared - not your run of the mill restaurant - the staff put thought into how their meals were prepared & presented!
