I hadn't been to this joint in a couple of years and now I remember why. I was asked by a business owner to pickup a lunch order he had phoned in. My errands could wait, so this business owner and his employees could have lunch. I was sent to Sunset Pizzeria to pickup and deliver the order. Upon my arrival, the 'pickup window' section wasn't clear, nor was I greeted by anyone (to spare me the confusion). I'm a patient and resourceful person and I figured it out. It was right in front of me! I stepped, with pep, to the pickup counter/window... where I wasn't greeted or even acknowledged by the young lady - employee - clarifying a telephoned order. After about 45 seconds, the phoned order now complete... she walks away. I'm not surprised...I want greeted... the pick up window confusion... no acknowledgment... then she walks away. Upon her return, I gave the pickup order information along with the, "I am picking up this order for a friend." She asked, "What's in the order?" My response, "I don't know." I gave the pick up order name, and it was obvious that my ignorance of what was in the order, bothered her. She bagged the order. Took the payment... made change... passed over the bag... left the window. Neither of us seemed phased by the transaction. Is this business as usual at Sunset Pizzeria? Probably not. It was my experience at that time -...
Read moreWe used to frequent this restaurant often but this last visit was the last straw to a slowing chain of bad visits. We went on mother's day and had Candice as our waitress. There were two people working one being a bartender but it wasn't very busy and if we had known of the terrible service we would have left. Started out fine, waited about five minutes before ordering drinks and it went down hill from there. Our drinks came out about ten minutes later with a rushed attitude and then we ordered our food, with appetizers, that all came out together thirty minutes later minus one appetizer. Our alcoholic drinks took another ten-ish minutes and no refills to water came or were asked for and when we were empty my mom walked up to the waitress to order more drinks I watched her swear at my mom as she walked away. The final appetizer came old cold and and soggy (it was a fried dish) and the waitress did comment that it was free but added a "gleeful" have fun eating your food. That was about the last time we saw her for thirty minutes as we waited for the check and sat with empty drinks and plates. While I understand that an understaffed restaurant is difficult to take care of there is no need for a nasty attitude to a customer. We will not be visiting this...
Read moreWe went twice in the past week. First time we both ordered the calzones. They were flavorful, however they were lukewarm, and the cheese was hardened rather than hot and bubbly. The meats were plentiful but the vegetables were few. We thought the temperature of the food was because it took a long time from when we placed our order to when our order arrived. We didnât see our waitress in that time so we assumed she left the food sitting before bringing it out to us.
On our second visit we had the same waitress. It was 15 minutes from the time we placed our order (calzones and pizza) to when our food was brought to us - understandable for the pizza and calzone cook time required. The calzones this time were semi-cold, not even lukewarm, and the pizza seemed undercooked. The pizza crust was doughy and flavorless. The cheese and sauce were tasty but didnât come close to making up for the overall lack of quality ingredients.
On our way out we saw a table with sandwiches and fries just being served. They looked plentiful and well presented. However, due to our two negative experiences we wouldnât be back.
Two visits, two strikes. Wouldnât go back and chance a third strike and a full strikeout.
