The Big Clock on White Horse Road isn’t just a restaurant to me—it’s a place that gave my family a precious memory. My mom had one of her very last meals here, and I can’t express how much that means to us. About a week before she was hospitalized, she had lunch at The Big Clock with her best friend. She ordered a simple garden salad with French dressing, and when she came home that day she glowed talking about it. “It was so fresh and delicious,” she said, smiling ear to ear over something as ordinary as a salad. Little did we know how important that meal would become.
A week later my mom fell seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. After several difficult days, she was finally cleared to eat solid food again. The very first thing she asked for wasn’t fancy or elaborate – she wanted that same garden salad from The Big Clock. The moment she made that request, I jumped in the car and drove to The Big Clock on White Horse Rd to pick one up to-go. The staff prepared it quickly and with care, just as they always do. When I brought the salad back to her hospital room, you should have seen the joy on my mom’s face. She lit up like I hadn’t seen in days. Despite all the tubes and pain, she was truly happy in that moment, eagerly digging into the salad and saying, “It’s just as good as I remembered.”
That simple salad gave my mom a moment of pure comfort and normalcy during one of the hardest times of her life. It might sound like “just a salad,” but to my mom it was a little slice of heaven when everything else was so tough. She savored every fresh bite of lettuce and tomato, every drop of tangy French dressing. For a little while, as she enjoyed her favorite salad, it felt like she was back at that cozy diner table with her best friend, not stuck in a hospital bed. It was one of the last meals she ever truly enjoyed, and it brought her genuine happiness when almost nothing else could.
I am deeply grateful to The Big Clock for the quality of food and care they put into that salad. It’s clear this restaurant puts love into even the simplest dishes. That garden salad may have been a humble menu item, but it meant the world to us. In my mom’s final days, it was The Big Clock that delivered a bit of joy to her and comfort to our family. We will never forget the kindness and consistency – the salad was fresh, delicious, and made exactly right, both times.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to The Big Clock on White Horse Road. Your food provided more than just nourishment; it provided comfort and a beautiful memory I will carry forever. My family will always be thankful for that little act of goodness. The Big Clock gave my mom a moment of joy when she needed it most, and for that, it will always hold a special place...
Read moreThe food is always on point here. I eat here often as I am able. It can be a bit crowded at times but that's to be expected when you have good service and food. I always TIP the servers here, as a former waitress myself I know how slammed you can be and busy and hard working and to top it off by being kind to customers is a plus. It's a good look so I ALWAYS pay attention to how I am treated with service. I do want to recommend this place for ALL meals. Breakfast lunch dinner dessert they have it all. They serve some really delicious fried chicken! Especially the breast. It's juicy flavorful and crunchy and good! I'm a Southern woman so I gotta have fried chicken! 😊🌹 I highly recommend it. Read moreI never write reviews seriously, this might be my first but I had to take a minute to share this experience. I came into the restaurant pretty close to closing time, and I could definitely feel the energy of the staff winding down. You know that vibe when it’s clear the place is ready to wrap up for the night and you’re not exactly the most welcome guest? That’s what I was bracing for. But then my server I wish I had caught her name, tattooed with a huge smile completely turned things around. From the moment she came over, her energy was incredibly positive. Not fake nice or going-through-the-motions kind of polite real, human warmth. She made me feel like i wasn't a bother. She cracked jokes, gave great recommendations, and somehow made what could’ve been an awkward, rushed dinner feel like one of the best nights out I’ve had in a while. The service alone made the whole visit worth it. I honestly can’t say enough about how much of a difference that server made. In a world where customer service often feels robotic or transactional, this was the kind of experience that reminds you what hospitality should feel like.
I left in a better mood than I came in, and that’s not something I can say very often these days. I hope that she sees this!...
