Moved to MB in February from Conway. My husband and I were sent here on plenty of recommendations from fb to stop at The Quay. Stopped in for dinner this past Sunday 4/14. The view was stunning and spoke for itself. What a beautiful way to watch the sunset! Food was delicious and the drinks were just as good. Everything was great other than our waitress rushing us out by giving us our bill prior to asking for it. May not seem like a big deal but coming from the restaurant business myself for 19yrs as a waitress and bartender, read the room. We were given our check, and not given a chance to respond saying we werent ready for it as we wanted to order more drinks after dinner. Our waitress looked at our area multiple times to see if we touched our book, but had she come over to acknowledge us after initially dropping it off we wouldn't have waited more than 10 minutes to order more to drink. She even took orders for other guests on both sides of us as we opted for the outdoor bar seating. I couldn't even get an excuse me in. I believe it was a hostess who's attention I was able to get, and she was great in getting that taken care of. She was the saving grace to our night.

Seated immediately at 6:30 on a Sunday. Gorgeous rooftop views! Very quick, friendly service. Our drinks were kept filled even with being busy. My husband got the She Crab and he said best he’s had in yrs. It was so good, after a taste our son ordered a cup! Appetizers were brought out quickly and all were delicious. Main courses came out a little too quickly as we had barely had time to get into apps. But all the food was excellent, well seasoned, prepared etc. Fish platter a little small on fish portion size for price compared to a few other restaurants with similar views. However, with large appetizers plenty to eat. Other mains a nice size. I might get grouper finger app next time instead as I don’t need fries or slaw. Cocktail sauce is spicy! ( not horseradish but hot sauce) but good flavor. Our server, Sydney, was excellent. She was also seated a group of 21 behind us and managed to take care of everyone. Parking is hard! Same lot for The Gulfstream, so give yourself time. Make sure to get a seat on top floor! The breeze and view combined with an amazing meal can’t be beat! Elevator makes access easy. Restrooms on each floor.

We came here for the view and we were so happy to also eat an amazing dinner! The restaurant was pretty busy and we were a ‘walk-in’. We would have to wait a long time for a table, but the ledge along the water with the great view of Murrells Inlet (from Garden City Beach side) had no wait at all. We sat there and really enjoyed it. I wanted a light meal so I got the crab cake sandwich with a side salad with lemon poppyseed dressing (so good)! After eating the crab cake (excellent), I wish I had ordered the crab cake entree. My friend mostly eats chicken so it was nice to see a variety of options at this restaurant. She ended up with the caprese chicken, which was very good! We had great service from Kate and this restaurant will be a must when in Garden City or nearby! We really liked sitting at the by the water! We went back for lunch and I got the crab cake entree! This time we sat upstairs at a table on the water! Nice breeze and view.

Sat at our table for 15 minutes and not one server or any worker even looked at us. People that sat down behind us AND after us were immediately served. Truly terrible service and will never come back. To not have one person even look our way, walking past us over and over again was astonishing. It became a joke amongst our table to see how long it would take for someone to serve us without us having to say something. Since it never happened after 15 minutes, we had to just pick up and leave. Went next door to the Gulfstream and the service was on point there. First time at Gulfstream and we'll be back. This was our 3rd time at The Quay and unfortunately our last. Never like this before, but this was so bad, it was almost embarrassing for us so we had to leave. Great view but we'll do without it here with this service.

I'm sorry but your responses to any negative criticism shows you don't care about your customers. I have no affiliation with your restaurant or the Gulfstream and and left a true review of our experience there last night but you come back with nonsense. I'm not going to lie about our experience and if you'd like to meet I'd be more than happy to fill you in. It was NOT a good experience last night and if you can't take any negative criticism then good luck to you.

Again, you guys are berating a customer for giving you an honest review of bad service. Please check with your host and manager on July 8th because your reply is an outright lie. We checked in with the host at 7:39 pm and received a text (which I still have and will be happy to meet with you as I mentioned before and show to you) at 7:46 pm saying our table is ready. We went to the host and checked in with her and the manager was also there. She brought us to our table and gave us our menus and that was the last interaction we had with any employees. Stop blaming customers and making up lies. It was bad service, that's it.

First, your response was that you think we're associated with Gulfstream, which we absolutely are not, then you change your response and tell us that we seated ourselves, which we absolutely did not do, and never would. I'm writing this review to help so maybe you can address an incident of bad service with your employees, not to berate a customer that had a bad experience. These responses (lies) truly show what type of people are running your restaurant and that's definitely not good.

The date and time we were there are listed above. We were seated at the first or second table on the left (south side of the restaurant) as you're walking in from the hostess table on the top floor. My wife, myself and our adult son. We're very easy going people and like I said, I'd be happy to sit down with you and go over things, no arguing or anything like that, just fill you in on our experience. We called today to speak to an owner to talk about things but did not receive a call back.

I agree this post is getting too long which is why we called and offered to meet. Didn't want to get into bickering here, just to leave an honest review, which is what we did. We are the farthest from complainers or uptight, pretty much the exact opposite but say what you like. We had no complaints before being sat down so there is no issue with any of that. Your manager and host were very friendly. This review is not intended to get anyone fired. That's the last thing we would want. Just to make you aware of our experience. After we got our table, no employee looked our way. A few servers looked annoyed when we were talking with these people whom we just met (there is a back story to this but no reason to get into that) and standing in the aisle. I understood this and that's why we gave it some time for them to get to us after we sat down but after awhile with nobody looking our way, we felt they were irritated with us and didn't want to serve us so we left. That was it.

Good luck to you. Hopefully others won't have the same...

We called ahead and asked for reservations. Was told they did not take reservations. 9 of us go in and they tell us they are expecting a large group coming in. How when you don’t take reservations? Everyone’s food was severely overcooked. Mahi Mahi was overcooked and salmon was not edible because it was overcooked and dry as well. 2 people in our party got the tacos and they said the tacos were great. Rob came out and was extremely rude and offered to give $6 off of a $250 bill, which by the way we did not ask for any discount we were just giving him an honest response to him asking us how we liked the food. Extremely disappointed in the way Rob handled the situation. He didn’t offer to have our food recooked or anything (again we did not ask for or want a credit) we wanted edible food. Don’t waste your time and just go next door to the Gulf Stream Cafe. This is not a fake review unlike Rob’s response is trying to say. As you can see by his response he’s just as rude and nasty on the internet as he is in person. My family is not from SC we are from TN and I don’t know who Carter is at Gulf Stream Cafe I just know the food there is much better along with the staff. We didn’t spend $250 at The Quay to come on here and leave a fake review. Rob clearly has a lot of anger issues and has issues with people leaving an honest review even when he specifically asked for it. I understand restaurants have off days but I hope everyone looks at the restaurants response because this is also how they probably treat their employees if he’s treating paying customers this way. Not to mention not a single one of us asked to speak to Rob, he came out to our table on his own and asked how the food was and we were honest and told him it was overcooked and he accused us of just wanting credits on our bill. As I stated before GO SOMEWHERE ELSE or ANYWHERE ELSE for that matter. Any business owner that would publicly respond like this clearly isn’t a good business owner. You should take feedback and apply it to the restaurant. Maybe if you put as much time and effort into your restaurant as you did in replying to my review the food would have been better! The best thing I can say about the place is the view was nice. Aww and now I’m a “Karen” for placing an honest review. How about you don’t come to someone’s table and ask them how the food was if you don’t want an honest answer? You can bet we won’t be back haha wouldn’t waste the money on the overcooked, dry food that we couldn’t even eat. Everyone can see what kind of business you run by how you get on the internet and argue with customers. What kind of business owner does that? Funny you say people around us were complaining about us when the people next to us were actually staying next door to our beach house and we had lovely conversations with them all throughout our stay. If anyone isn’t honest it’s you. If anyone around us complained it was about your mediocre (at best) food LOL! It’s okay to admit your restaurant had a bad night and that your management is even worse! Your own waitress said the kitchen staff didn’t listen or read any notes that she put on our orders which is why they came out wrong 😂 instead of arguing with customers get your restaurant under control because even your staff agreed with us! Again for anyone that reads this just look at how the restaurant treats their patrons and decide if you want to give your money to a place like this. I’d take a McDonald’s double cheeseburger and fry before I ever ate here again and that’s saying a lot! Clearly the business pays people for their reviews because I can PROMISE you the food is not what they are claiming it is! For a restaurant to say they can admit when they make mistakes, that’s clearly not the case here as all can see! Our waitress was great and sincerely apologized for the issues. Maybe she should take the place...

If I could give this establishment a negative star I would. Tried for a few months to plan my reception, awful experience. Lisa, you suck at your job. Thankfully I looked at the negative reviews before giving them over $6,000 for 3 hours. The responses to honest reviews has blown me away and we will 100% not be using this establishment! Being in the industry for 15 years; I’m appalled at how our experience with Lisa was and how much stress she caused us, for lack of response time and rude email to my fiancé. Management who is responding to reviews that don’t fit your “standards” by calling them Karen’s— come on… you lost a $6,000 night on a TUESDAY ON OFF SEASON. Good luck (you need it)

EDIT; Oh, silly me — all those emails I was CC’d on must’ve just magically appeared in my inbox. But if rewriting history makes you avoid accountability, go off! Honestly, this response is better marketing than any review I could’ve written. Future clients, take notes. OH I FORGOT!! I left your restaurant a review on Facebook as well!! I wish future customers could see that review; but you blocked me!

Edit again; I don’t want to do business with you because you are extremely unprofessional. That’s why we didn’t respond.. got a voicemail a few nights ago and to be honest.. you sounded really nervous; probably because of the honest review I left the night before. Also we found it odd a male called and not Lisa.. hmm. Not sure why your ego is so large; compensating for something? My friends and family have my back on this, because they’ve listened to me complain about Lisa all summer and how stressed we have been dealing with her. Also it’s weird you went out of your way to stalk my fiancé and family.. Who does that? Can’t wait to try the place...
