Waffle House — Restaurant in South Carolina

When I pulled up. They were sleeping. The waitress leaned there in the top left part. the cook in the booth. In front of her. So I sit the for 30 mins. Waiting. Just to see. Pondering... Should I go in? As I decided to pull away there coincidentally happened to be another car pulling up. So I waited. He walks in. I figured the sound of him coming in The store would have woken them both. It didn't he actually had to wake em up 😂. So I go in. First thing she says is... "if it's Togo we ain't got no lids." The way she said this made me feel as if she wanted to turn me away because I replied with "that's fine I'll just eat here then she said well we ain't got no lids. So I order a bacon egg and cheese toast with regular hashbrowns. I tell him I don't want it cooked over hard with the yolk in the center that I wanted them scrambled. He said "ahh ima make'em how I make eryone else's". I was really hungry. So I didn't make a fuss. Well I get my food and all the bacon is stacked on one side of the sliced in half sandwich with raw eggs and burnt toast. Gives it to me in a Togo plate with plastic wrap.......I still tipped her. Cause I always do. Though they both derserved to...

So, just to be on the level, I'm usually a huge fan of Waffle House. I only get to have WH when I travel (since there are none where I live), so I was very excited to see so many locations in South Carolina.

I stopped at 3 Waffle House locations, each one of them had staffing issues. Each time, only one cook remained. The first two stores locked the doors and refused service, the third would only take Togo orders. Food was rushed, but forgivable considering it was just one grill operator running everything. I paid over 15 dollars for a bacon cheese burger plate, which I feel is a little high. The atmosphere was not great. It was chaotic, and unprofessional.

There are some real significant staffing challenges that need corporate support in the surrounding area of the WH I am reviewing.

You should keep going...this place is filthy. We stayed at motel next door and drove over for breakfast. You walk in door and the first thing you see are dishes all over tables and garbage underneath. We couldn't even find a clean table. So we give the benefit of the doubt (maybe they just got slammed) and turn around to ask if someone could clean off one table. There were three young men, uniform pants sagging down their butts, scratching heads and flipping food, talking and laughing about nothing to do with this place and looking at us like we better get to it. Foul mouthed ghetto punks. Needless to say we walked right out of there. I guess the garbage all over parking lot should have been a clue....and the workers propped up right by the door smoking and leaving it all that way!! RUN....The next exits in either direction are so much...
