From the moment you walk through the door of The Lodge in South Haven, you know you’re in for something special. Tucked just off bustling downtown, this family-friendly, year-round restaurant is a local favorite—and it’s easy to see why.
📍 Atmosphere & Vibe
The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a casual, warm space with high ceilings, cozy wood floors, and a laid-back neighborhood pub feel. The indoor dining room and expansive patio buzz with friendly energy, and during the warmer months the outdoor seating becomes a favorite spot for locals to gather.
🍽️ Food & Drinks
Everything here is made with care. Their scratch‑made pub grub shines—from the famous Genuine Broaster Chicken that’s crispy yet juicy, to their indulgent Smash Burgers. On a brilliant spring evening, the Cucumber Elderflower Smash cocktail struck the perfect refreshing note.
One standout was the “Cure” Smashburger: double patties, fried egg, bacon, and comeback sauce—it was gloriously messy and insanely delicious. The beer-battered fries? Maybe not everyone’s favorite—but the fried pickles and deviled eggs certainly stole the show!
👍 Service & Community Spirit
Service here feels genuinely personal—warm, attentive, and fast-paced, even when they’re busy. They consistently live up to their motto: “Where the locals go!” As part of a 2023 top workplaces list, The Lodge is known for treating their team like family—which shines through in the upbeat energy and respectful hospitality at every table.
⭐ Pros • Scratch-made comfort food: broasted chicken, creative smash burgers, ample vegetarian and seasonal specials • Inviting atmosphere: casual indoor dining, lively outdoor patio • Craft cocktails & a local draft lineup • Community-focused service: fast, friendly, and personal
⚠️ A Few Notes • It can get busy—expect a short wait, especially on weekends. • The open layout means noise levels can rise, so it’s not the quietest spot during peak hours.

Read moreVery disappointed in the service. My friend and I are in town from Chicagoland visiting my friends parents who live local. Her parents were told about this place and the amazing broasted chicken by one their neighbors. I ordered salad with broasted chicken. Had no idea what broasted meant but we were told it was delicious. I assumed it was roasted/broiled but had no idea it was breaded. Shame on me for not asking, but it was so LOUD in there I couldn't hear the waitress to ask questions. When food was delivered I realized there was breading on the chicken. Being Gluten free I couldn't eat that. The waitress had told me she had spoken to the manager about the situation and I had to pay for both salads. I have NEVER had a restaurant make me pay for a meal that I was not happy with, but they charged me for both salads. When the check came my friend's dad tried to pay with cash but the waitress never came back as they were understaffed and she was very busy. We waited a long time when we realized they had some sort of pay by phone system. I was trying to use the pay by phone but it was not working well, possibly user error or bad cell signal to process but it definitely was not walking out on a bill. Don't appreciate you accusing me or my friend and her family who live locally of trying to skip out on a tab.... Very disappointed in the lack of...
Read moreWhat an absolute treat. Me and my buddy were traveling through Michigan for work, and we're trying to find a place to eat on the Michigan side and The Lodge popped up on the maps. Looked at it to see what it was about and I saw that it had great reviews. The place it's by itself beautiful and rustic on the outside and nice and cozy on the inside. It has a bar to the right side of the restaurant and seating throughout on the left. The staff is over the moon friendly. Since this was our first time here we had many questions about the menu but the waitress whose name I forgot " sorry " was eager to explain what each dish was. I was particularly interested in the Reuben, the classic Rubin that is. We ordered an appetizer spinach artichoke dip which was amazing it came with pita chips. And for the main course it was the Rubin the classic one. And let me tell you in my life I've had many Rubens but this one here tops them all. Bar none. My buddy had a wrap and he was satisfied with his dish as well. He did say he could have used a little bit more chicken I think that just comes with people's preference. So my peeps if you are traveling through Michigan and you are on the Michigan lakeside of things, and if you're near The Lodge not hesitate to stop and check it out I promise you will have to be...
