It seems we are not the only ones to have the same complaint. Slow, does not begin to describe our experience. We waited at the door for about 15 minutes, as the 1 waitress, and every table in the restaurant filled but 1, walked passed us multiple times. Finally I decided to sit at the only empty table in the place. We quietly waited for another 5 minutes and still, no one greeted us or even recognized we were there. I figured ok, she's really busy, we can be patient and have a couple drinks, so I walked to the bar and got a few for me and my Better Half. About a half hour at the table now and a guy who was handling take out came over to help us, we asked for the wings appetizer and he stated they take a long time due to the way they cook them. OK we said, we are willing to wait but do you have anything we can order that would be quick to nibble on while we wait for the wings? Sure he says, we have fries with a topping on them, their quick. Great let's have those while we wait. 20 minutes goes by and here come the Fries, and the Wings!.We immediately order Lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. Half hour later, I hear a guy in the back, who I later find out is the incompetent manager on duty, told our server, 86th the Lasagna. 10 minutes later, the server comes to use to tell us what I over heard and said they had to take the Frozen Lasagna out to cook it and it would be another 20 minutes. If you add up all that time we were there 110 minutes and never ate our dinner. We are full time, middle age RV'ers who travel all over the Country visiting hundreds of restaurants. So far, hands down, this is the worst restaurant we have ever been too. It's a shame because so far, South Hero Vermont is one of our favorite places. It was like I was watching an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares. Gordon, come help this place. It has lots...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. Forget eating a quick bite here (as reflected in a lot of these reviews). We waited almost an hour for our food (including our starter which came with our mains) & I wonder if we only got it because I got up to ask someone what was going on (others had gotten their orders already & our server had pretty much forgotten about us since bringing our drinks). Our drinks were done long before the food arrived & we never got a refill (we had to also ask twice for water).
When my plate was put in front of me, even in the dark I could see the meat was spoiled (shiny & iridescent). I gave them the benefit of the doubt & took a bite... Yup, meat had gone bad. Since our original server never came to check up on us since bringing our drinks, and no one came to see if our food was fine, I had to go up to the kitchen myself to show them my sandwich (which I'm sorry, any chef who cared about their clientèle would have known already was not good). Another servrer helped me & offered right away to prepare me something else. I hesitated because not only was I upset & didn't want to give any more money to this place, I was doubting their cleanliness. But it was almost 9pm, I was beyond starving, and since we were camping, I was afraid of not finding another open place at that time. I ended up choosing a grilled chicken sandwich... To her credit the server did bring me something within I think 10 min, but it was not a grilled chicken sandwich. By this point, I was done. I just couldn't believe it. I asked for my boyfriend's bill and left. The new server apologized and apologized (she said she had been there since 9am) but it wasn't enough to cover a terrible night. This place needs help on many levels (food quality, staff recruitment & training, clean kitchen & bathrooms)... It's too bad. Not...
Read moreAs a local of South Hero. I have eaten there for years. But the last 6 months the quality has gone down hill. I eat there almost 2x a month. Getting to go orders. I usually get the Chili cheese fries. But they have been building it backwards. At first the waitresses blamed it on new cooks. Then said they were told by the Owner to build them like that. Fries, cheese, chili on top. The cheese isn't always melted. The old way was to do fries, chili, cheese on top and run it through the rolling oven. So the cheese got crispy on top. Over all just far better. Also got a Stromboli there. Paid $15 + tax. 1/4 of it was raw dough. Ruined the whole meal. I have asked to speak to the manager. Have been told I couldn't. Told to tell 'US" how you want it Every time you order. Yet when I do they ignore me and make it in the backwards manor. Why pay for food that isn't what you ordered. 4X order mess ups in 3 months time. Unexceptable! I know the Pandemic was hard on everyone. And places are short staffed. But if you can't take care of the locals that helped keep your doors open. Then your future is not a...
