Lin Garden — Restaurant in South Londonderry Township

This was our favorite restaurant in the area for Chinese take out. Called tonight to place an order for 3 combos. Was told it would take 30 minutes. Went after 30 minutes to find a restaurant full of frustrated customers who had been waiting a long period of time for their orders. The kitchen looked chaotic and all of the tables were dirty (this is uncharacteristic of Lin Garden). I waited another 15 minutes for my order. The lady rang up my order and it was more than was expected. She said I ordered four meals. I said that I had only ordered three and told her which three. She insisted that I had ordered a fourth. The manager stepped in and told her just to give me the fourth meal. I thanked him. He returned to the kitchen. The lady told me to be careful next time when ordering. I told her that there probably would not be a next time. She begin to tell me how important honesty is and I told her that I was being honest and it was not very good practice to accuse her customers of being dishonest. The manager was trying to fix the MISTAKE, the employee made this unfortunate event intolerable. I will not...

Edit: Feb 2025 Still my go to spot, Still great people and food! However, about a year ago they switched to an answering service for orders via phone. Beware, the approximate time the person who takes orders gives you is inaccurate. I’d recommend adding 15-30 minutes to the time given at least. I’ve been told 15-20 minutes on the phone and arrived to pickup 45-60 minutes later and the order is still not ready. Food is worth the wait, but definitely plan ahead if you’re in a hurry as it gets busy and this can be frustrating. I took my review down to four stars because of this unfortunate recent trend, but I stand by the food being excellent. Original Review: Best Chinese takeout place in the area by a mile. The prices for a lunch or dinner combo are cheap and you get a lot of food. The meat has never been rubbery...it's always delicious and perfectly cooked! So many other places this is a huge problem but not here. Lots of flavor and the shrimp eggrolls are delicious! Staff is so friendly. Go there more than a few times and they'll probably remember your order....

How is this place rated so high? Walked in and ordered food for 4 people. Combination plate Hunan beef, combo pepper steak, beef and chicken teriyaki sticks, small white and small pork fried rice and dumplings to share.

Waited about an hour for it to be done. I believe they were filling smaller orders before us.

Sadly the food was not that good either. My hunan beef combo did not have much beef in it almost 60%rice, 30%veggies and 10% beef and the meat was extremely rubbery. The chicken teriyaki sticks were dried out so badly the ends couldn't be chewed without hurting our teeth, the beef teriyaki sticks were so rubbery and stuck to the sticks, they had to be cut off with a knife. Took a few bites and threw those away.

The white rice was way over cooked, almost like a paste. Dumplings were the best tasting thing we had.

Also please clean your air ducts in your ceiling, so much accumulation of dust on those in your dinning room. Eewww!
