EDIT: I have upgraded as Gil’s is back to a wonderful restaurant in our little township with totally delicious food consistently. Great prices and always fresh. We have been pleasantly surprised this year after going to Gils years ago that their food had really improved and they must have a new chef. So we order at least once a week sometimes twice. I think the Pandemic was hard on them. We’re back for good!
Today we ordered and my daughter chose the chicken and broccoli Alfredo. When she tasted it she said it tastes like Christmas. I tasted it and sure enough it tastes like nothing but nutmeg.
We called the restaurant because we are most certainly regulars and have spent hundreds at this restaurant since covid began. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and short with me. I asked if it could be replaced with the Cajun Alfredo (as this doesn’t taste like nutmeg ~ we’ve had it) but my daughter still wanted the broccoli. She said they could replace it but refused to include broccoli. We spent $44 and she couldn’t include a few pieces of broccoli???? My daughter was frustrated at her rudeness and didn’t want to go there to pick up food after she spoke to us this way. So she simply said there’s nothing else they can do. No credit offered towards even a future order.
I will say that I’ve always enjoyed the food this year but even my roast beef and potatoes were extremely bland and...
Read moreThis was my families first time at Gil's Cafe! We always heard very good things from friends and family who have gone. We sat inside and everything was super clean, and covid friendly which was very appreciated. The service was top notch. We ordered a few different hoagies/sandwiches and wings. The wings were super juicy and had a nice crunch /crispy skin which were great and would order again. The menu was massive and had a wide range of bar food and actual entre meals. Our sandwiches all had really good crunchy bread, and great cuts of meat on them. I also loved the fresh cut fries. Needless to say, we would definitely come again!
My only issue was that my mom who dined with my party, actually has a shellfish allergy. Despite none of us ordering seafood, shellfish etc she actually came home (we live 10 minutes away) and she had an allergic reaction. Im assuming this is due to cross contamination in the kitchen or frying of something such as the fries or chicken wings. Its not a HUGE deal, but obviously fair warning when you go to just be on the safe side. Again, we would go again because we genuinely did love the food, but its just was kind of odd to us that she got the allergic reaction - we just hoped that maybe they were more cautious in the kitchen given they do serve seafood/fish and...
Read moreStops into Gill's Cafe today for the first time ever. I was hoping to have the prime rib but that was only served on Fridays and Saturdays. I was hoping to have a lasagna but the lasagna is made on Wednesday served on Thursday so today would have been a reheat. So we have to not to have that we had other items from the menu. The menu looks pretty extensive and everything's supposed to be homemade. I talked to multiple multiple different patrons to find out what their favors were before we made our selection. Seems that everybody had a little bit of a different taste and desired menu item. Even asked to waiters. I'm at the wife and the husband husband's name is Bob He's the owner along with his wife. In a month from now February they're going to change the name to Ricky D's in honor of their brother I'm not sure which one of them's I think it's the white brother that passed away 10 years ago. The wife said she's going to be changing the menu also but the daily specials will always remain the same this is a bar and...
