We were out on a day trip in the Laurel Highlands to see the leaves turning and just get out of town for a change. Did a lot of sightseeing and hanging out. When it came time for dinner, Pappy's came up as recommended, lots of people raving about it? Gotta check it out.
We ordered two daily specials: Crab-stuffed Sole and the Pot Roast. I don't do seafood but my wife says it was good.
My pot roast was a sad affair. It was basically a lake of gravy, carrots and potatoes. There seriously were three, half-inch cubes of beef in the whole dish. I gave my wife a bite early on and then spent the rest of the time hunting for meat to no avail. Honestly crazy. It was little more than veggies and gravy that could have been store bought.
Not saying it IS, but... It might as well be. It had that starchy, jelly consistency you would get in a TV dinner.
No idea if that's just the worst dish they serve, but... I don't recommend you find out.
Really disappointed.
The best part was the homemade roll. The mashed potatoes were ok, but like... That's hardly a...
Read moreupdated ** I decided to stop in again today to see if they had removed the fees for CC and they have not so basically he is saying you have to pay to spend money here. It's a shame cause the food really is great but the owner is unreasonable about the fees. I won't be back until this changes So I've eaten here every week since they opened because it's close to my work...the food is fantastic and I love the staff but I ordered today and they are now charging a $2 charge if your order is under $10...umm you need to find a new credit card provider before you pass that on to your loyal customers... lunch shouldn't be more than $10 and if you think so you're greedy and won't get my business. Ask your folks cause I ordered a salad every Monday and would order lunch sometimes twice a week. I would also come out for beers some nights but that will change now. You got greedy and it's the same reason you lost your last couple restaurants so if I could give less than 1 star I would you...
Read moreWe came here for lunch on Labor Day before going on a tour at Kentuck Knob. I just googled restaurants and this came up and the reviews were good and the menu looked liked it had something for both of us. I was not sure what to expect - just thinking it was going to be like a little deli.
We ordered the mile high chicken salad and an Italian sub with a side of the potato salad - I had seen online that it was so good you would wanna slap your momma. It was good but there was no slapping that occurred.
We sat inside. The salad was huge. I couldn’t eat it all. I saw a dessert case but we didn’t get any. They have beer and other canned drinks.
The staff member who took our order and brought it to the table was friendly. Prices were good. Parking was easy. There was an upstairs dining area - we didn’t go up there but we heard people and saw some walk down from there.
This was a good lunch. I’m glad...
