Red's Tavern — Restaurant in South Windsor

Laser tag was fun although parties have priority and after starting a game with two dozen people we were forced to leave only two minutes into the game so that the party could play their game and we would have to wait another 45 minutes to play after having waited an hour to play already. After games and laser tag we went to reds tavern for dinner. There was six of us. After being seated nicely we waited over 15 minutes to get our food order in, mind you there was nobody else in the restaurant. After ordering food and some beer it took five minutes to get the beer alone. There was no refill service on waters until about 20 minutes of waiting. After an hour we finally got our food. Four out of six of us got our food at the same time. We never received our salad and had to wait ten more minutes for a panini after the four entrees came out. Half the food was cold and half the food was warm. One order was a completely wrong order and not what we ordered at all. Waitress never checked on us to see how everything was until the panini came out and we had to remind her about a salad that never showed. She said it would be right out and it never came. We refused to pay for anything at all as everything was all over the place. Between service and food I'd have to give it less than 1 star. Games and activities are fun. I'd stay away from the restaurant unless planning on just getting a drink at the bar. It was a shame that such a nice looking place couldn't provide a perfect ending to our perfectly fun day. The only plus side was that they comped our entire bill and the manager apologized for everything and said that they were short staffed. I was hesitant before going based on the current review's but, they seemed to have fixed their employee problem because we had a pretty good experience. The waiter we had, who as we overheard, wasn't really hired for wait staff but did a very sufficient job. Considering there was a large party in the restaurant right before we sat down, we did not have to wait long to get anything we had ordered. Someone from the kitchen brought our food out without forks and knives, but our waiter was immediately behind him and brought them. When I asked for mustard and ketchup, it also was promptly brought over. Which is great, that I wasn't waiting for something I wanted to put on my meal. The food was fantastic! I had the Cubano burger and my girlfriend had the mac'n'cheese with pulled pork. At first it didn't seem like much, for a meal that's mac'n'cheese, but was very filling. And they put caramelized onions in it, per her request, even though I don't remember seeing them on the menu. The burger was great. If you haven't had cubano burger\sandwich you really should, the ingredients are fantastic put together. They have fried dough, that's all that needs to be said! I would have given them 5 stars but, there was not napkins, salt\pepper, forks\knives on our table, or any table for that matter, until after we got our food. Also, the table was sticky, not necessarily dirty but sticky and that just bothers...

Terrible experience. Food is sub par and service is even worse. I was there with a party of six, it took over 20 mins before I got up and asked if we had a server before someone came over. The bartenders are more interested in socializing than serving drinks and rude when you are acknowledged and on a Saturday night all I saw was one server. We ordered apps and meals and the apps came out pretty quick and were ok. The meals however came out in waves after an hour and 5 of the 6 of us got food. I was told my meal would be another 3 mins and when I did get food it was an app we had already received! I finally got my meal after speaking with a "manager" and expressing my dissatisfaction with the place. I asked for a take home container with the food as everyone else in my party was done. The manager did take off all of our drinks and 2 of the meals which was a good move on her part and was appreciated. Do yourself a favor and stay away unless you want really poor service and...
