Congamond Coffee & Cafe — Restaurant in Southwick

My husband and I were SO excited when this cafe opened -- and it couldn't be a more delightful! The decor is cozy and inviting, with many different seating options, from a comfy sofa to a table for ten. The staff are extremely friendly, always smiling and helpful, with quick service. The owner is warm and welcoming, and she makes a point of getting to know her customers. And the food ... wow! Fresh muffins and cookies, delicious sandwiches, and truly fantastic coffee (my favorite -- so far -- is the vanilla latte). It's clear that there are already lots of "regulars," some who come every day. I work remotely and I do that here as often as I can; my husband stops here for coffee on his way to work; and we come every Sunday morning to hang out and enjoy a warm cinnamon muffin, banana bread, or other fresh-baked pastry. I wanted to share a bit of constructive feedback after my recent visit. The café is doing well and has great potential to be even better. One area of improvement could be how young adults behind the counter interact with customers. For example, when someone asks, “Do you have chocolate croissants?” a simple “no” can feel abrupt. A warmer, open-ended response like, “We’re out of chocolate croissants, but would you like to try our apple pie?” makes a big difference in customer experience.

Also, a more consistently pleasant tone with all customers—regardless of background—would go a long way in making the café feel welcoming to everyone. I have been to Congamond Coffee three times now. The customer service is great! Everyone is so friendly. The second time I was there, I got a hot honey breakfast sandwich and the cashier never asked what kind of cheese I wanted. So the owner herself came out and asked me, then offered to move the checker board that was laid out on the table I picked. She was so kind and smiling big, I had a great interaction with her!
