My family and I were so excited to try out this restaurant after reading all of the reviews. My reviews are still very mixed and I feel to be honest it may be a hit or miss with this one. While this restaurant is considered handicap accessible it is a steep hike of ramps cascading upwards to reach the door. We were not offered a great seat and there was better than what we were given. We were put next to the doorway leading back to the kitchen. Zero view 😞 but ok we were there for the food. We started with an appetizer, forgive me I didn't take menu shots. It was basically loaded french fries with blackened grilled gator and a really tasty sauce. My son also got a small bowl of gumbo to try but he said it was very basic. We were hopeful because again the loaded gator fries were really good. I ordered Mahi Mahi blackened as it is my absolute favorite! My husband tried the stuffed snapper which was blackened filets of fish, crab cake, jumbo shrimp and came with 2 sides. My son ordered the tuna bowl. Now for the negative 😞 I have no clue what I was served but it wasn't Mahi Mahi. It was such a strong fishy flavor that it tasted more like Salmon. $22 for 2 small thin mystery fish fillets was appalling. My husband who likes salmon swapped me some of his snapper and he ate mine. The snapper now was actually very tasty. The crab cake was a little spicy but equally good. My son's tuna well he stated it tasted chemically. My son eats sushi and sashimi etc so he knows what his tuna should taste like and they missed the mark. For a $160 meal with a tip I'm disappointed. Oh and my last vent for a sea food restaurant they charge you for hush puppies or make you choose it as a side to...
Read moreComing from Miami, while also cooking seafood, let me tell you now, my expectations were high. I along with my dear went to this establishment and he got the “Stuffed Snapper” , I order the Mahi-Mahi. His side included the hush puppies with french fries. I got one sausage and cut in half potatoes, in mild garlic sauce.
Now, his snapper was great at first bite, however! After the first bite all you taste was “nothingness” I was floored. I asked for another bite, and sure enough my tongue was still disappointed. The flavor lasted for maybe a split second. As you continued to chew the taste grew into bland. This meal might I add was 30 dollars. 30 dollars for a split second of joy , into minutes of disappointment. Now I must say, the crab cake, and add-ons to his meal was delicious. This included the French fries (hello?) and the hush puppies.
Remember, I ordered the mahi - mahi, 22 dollars. I also, had it blackened, and it was good! I mean it went down easy, was the flavor enough to make me slap my momma? Hell no, was it enough to eat and not come back Hell yes!
Lastly, service was phenomenal! My waitress was a gem. However, I came to eat good food, I would have rather had a terrible waitress but great food. In this case it was the opposite. Overall, I rank this place a mean 2.5 - out of 5 stars.
I bet you’re wondering, well dang why so harsh. Well think about it. In this day and age we all are scratching the bottom of our pockets, to give each other a little break at life. When that break cost 70 dollars for some split second flavored fish, you have to cut me some grace, I’m quite not the happy camper. Try it, and share...
Read moreOrdered 3 pounds of crawfish received The crawfish and you could not get the meat to come out of none of the Tails ask the waitress about it. She went and talk to the manager. The manager come back out here and told me that was because of its end year Crawfish and they hard and that’s the reason why the meat won’t come out of it I’m 52 years old and have ate crawfish all my life and I know when they have been overcooked and the meat turns into mush. they can feed that bull to somebody else’s that doesn’t know how crawfish are supposed to be cooked. I’ve at least ate here with my family six or times a month and they just lost a customer for life just because they’re policy is no refund or exchange on Crawfish no matter if they are bad Crawfish even on their behalf !! they were couple day old crawfish and have been reheated anyone who eats Crawfish know you should be able to twist the head off pinch the tail and the meat come out. You shouldn’t have to sit there and try to peel the Crawfish and the Meat still mush it wasn’t just one or 20 different Crawfish out of the pot and everyone was the same. here is a live video of it so you can see for yourself.
as I was walking out of the business I talked to another customer that was very unhappy about the same problem. They ordered a bunch of crawfish and couldn’t eat the first one and the manager told them the same thing that they were hard Crawfish because of the end of the year and that how they are. THEN WHY SALE THEM IF THATS THE PROBLEM BUT I GUESS THEY FIGURE OUT OF STATE PLEASE DONT KNOW ANY BETTER. BUT US LOCAL PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO EAT A...
