To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I have been wanting to come here for lunch and a wine tasting for several years now, I just never could seem to find the time. I finally had a day where I had no other obligations, so I decided to finally make the 40 minute drive to Horse Creek Winery to spoil myself with a nice lunch and to maybe find myself a new favorite wine.
I went to the Sparks location first, since it was 15 minutes closer to my house. I was the only customer there, yet the woman at the bar was so busy on her phone that she simply didn’t have time for me. She glanced up for 2 seconds to say hi to me, then she buried her nose back into her phone and I never saw her face again. A second employee was vacuuming and never even acknowledged me. I wandered over to the cafe, where I was greeted with a sign that said the dining room was closed to anybody who didn’t have a reservation. I’m sorry but if a reservation is required for the dining room, it should be posted on your website. When I left, I even went back on to their website to see if maybe I overlooked it somewhere. But I didn’t overlook it, it simply wasn’t posted anywhere that reservations were required. I briefly considered inquiring about the wine tasting, but I didn’t want to bother the girl at the bar, who still had her nose buried in her phone. So I decided to try the Nashville location since it was only 15 minutes from the Sparks location. I already had a 40 minute drive invested in this trip, so I figured I’d bite the bullet and drive another 15.
So I get to the Nashville location and the vineyard was so large and impressive, I was almost glad the employees at the Sparks location were rude to me. I was getting really excited about the Nashville winery. Well, that excitement was very short lived. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, two large dogs ran out and started aggressively barking at my car. They were blocking my way to the parking spaces and just wouldn’t back off. I sat there idling in the parking lot, expecting somebody to come out and call these dogs off, but nobody ever did. I’m assuming the dogs could have been harmless but I didn’t know for sure, because they clearly weren’t happy that I was there. I eventually put my car in “park” and just waited. I couldn’t pull forward or back up because I could no longer see the dogs in any of my mirrors and I didn’t want to accidentally run one over. After quite a few minutes, I was finally able to spot both of the dogs (who were both still aggressively barking at me) in my mirrors so I was able to safely back up. They were still blocking my way to the parking spaces, so I just backed my car out and left the same way I came in.
I’m really happy that the Horse Creek Winery is doing so well that they don’t want or need me as a customer, because I will...
Read moreI have been to the Winery on several occasions and have tried to see the good in the place, I wanted to!
But, this has to be one of worst managed Resturants/Bar I've ever seen after owning 3 myself. They are mainly 18 to 20 somethings running the entire place, even the kitchen staff.
The hours state open till 10:00 on weekends but when we were there they were putting the chairs on the tables and wiping down the legs at 9:30, with 5 tables still drinking and eating desert.
The guy(me) was still playing as no one had obviously told him they were closing and they were doing this while he was in the middle of his set. Someone (Manager) should have at least come out and spoken to him to let him know of their plans and to go ahead and wrap up....then we'll start putting chairs up!! Very unprofessional!
The outside had an overturned table/umbrella on the patio, some dirty glasses left untouched. They said they weren't serving outside! I guess it didn't matter how it looked for anyone who wanted to journey out on the deck and patio. And when they are serving ladies, plan to go home smelling like a cheese burger because of their terrible ventilation!
Now the Wine, it's winery, it's pretty bad even for what it is and liquor is not an option.
The food is less than ok! Our chicken Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and the Cuban sandwich our guest had was the worst they said they had had. They didn't eat it.
It's too bad because they have a nice property but no real professional management.
I just wouldn't waste the time or money, just seems...
Read moreIn all sincerity, this place needs to be marketed better and making a more luxe menu and a few upgrades would put this as a destination for Bachelorette parties, ladies lunches and brunches and weddings. We stopped here on Saturday during a very long drive from Chicago to Florida. I was hoping for a light salad and some time to stretch my legs. Very disappointed to find only bar fare on the menu, but when my 7 year old said she wasn't very hungry and I ate the chicken tenders...OH MY GOD! Best chicken I've ever had in my life!! I wasn't surprised to find they hand cut and batter it with a homemade recipe. I'm a foodie and this place is a rough cut diamond needing some serious polish to become the glittering gem it has the potential to be... and needs things like ambiance in the dining room
So if management is reading this, PLEASE add food items to the menu that will complement your wines... like strawberry poppyseed spinach salad with some of that fantastic chicken on them, baked Greek chicken, some filets when things get busier and maybe even some salmon. All the way to Florida, my mom and I were saying that your place is awesome and how some money invested in some renovations and upgrading the menu could make this a multi million dollar busines and the Southern version of Napa Valley. The wine we bought was fantastic and I'm hoping to get...
