Charley's Ice Cream & Grill — Restaurant in Spencer Township

I usually have great experiences here. My husband and I always order a large hot fudge malt and a medium hot fudge/kaluah malt. Today, we ordered just that and a shrimp basket. There was a new person at the window, someone that I haven't seen at the window before. He takes our order, doesn't repeat anything back to us, and now we wait.

Someone comes to the window, hands us a Heath shake, which we did not order. They took it back through the window and apologized. Next comes out a hot fudge shake, and a kaluah shake. We asked for malts. The new guy comes to the window after we said that's not what we ordered and proceeded to say, "Well since I read back your order and you said that was okay, we can't remake your order unless you pay for new ones."

I get that mistakes happen, but it isn't hard to correct your mistake. The only plus to this is we got the heath shake for free, even though we don't like heath....

I ordered an extra large flurry and a large hot fudge sundae for a total of $22. The price was not outrageous, but they gave me the hot fudge sundae in this little cup and the ice cream was piled up on top of the cup approximately 8 inches with hot fudge drizzle all over it, but I’m a majority of the hot fudge was in the bottom of the cup And I said how am I going to get this home as I can’t eat it while I’m driving down the road and she said will give you a cup and I said can you just flip it upside down into the cup and she said no it’s against our company policy And handed it back to me so when I tried to do it the whole huge blob of ice cream fell over into my lap and all over the interior of my brand new truck. What a Ludacris policy why not ask the customer if they would like it in a large cup that isn’t going to spill in the first place. Because of this policy, I’ll never return to Charlie’s....

My husband and I went out last night just to get a sweet treat and we went through the drive thru (which was a very nice idea). I wish I got the girl that took our order cause she was so sweet. We are new to the area and haven’t been there before so we were trying to get ice cream for our dog and she suggested the doggy bowl which was sweet to suggest mostly coming from working in food industry sometimes it can be annoying people trying to guess. I also ordered a small sundae and she put it in a bigger cup to make it easier in the car. They were pretty busy for a Monday night and for her to take time and do all of that for a customer that didn’t ask for it was super nice and helpful. Will definitely be going back and glad...
