You know that feeling when you discover something absolutely incredible in the most unexpected place? That’s Riegel’s Market in a nutshell. From the outside, it’s your typical rural gas station and convenience store – the kind of place where you’d stop for fuel, grab some live bait for fishing, and maybe a soda for the road. But step inside and prepare to have your expectations completely shattered. The new ownership has worked some serious magic here. While they wisely kept the unassuming exterior (formerly Bettie’s), they’ve transformed the kitchen into something special. What emerges from that kitchen rivals – and I’d argue surpasses – some of the most celebrated steakhouses in the region, including longtime favorites like Murphys in Bartlesville and The Spudder in Tulsa.
The steak I had was nothing short of perfection: beautifully seared with those coveted crosshatch grill marks, cooked to exactly the right temperature, and bursting with flavor. The sides were equally impressive – creamy mashed potatoes, perfectly steamed broccoli, and a fresh dinner roll that completed the meal beautifully.
This is the kind of place that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its location. Riegel’s Market has mastered the art of the “sleeper hit” – delivering exceptional dining in the most wonderfully unexpected setting. It’s not just a great meal; it’s an experience that’ll have you telling friends, “You’ll never believe where I had the best steak…”
Do yourself a favor: fill up your tank, grab some bait if you’re so inclined, and stay for what might just be the best-kept secret in the area. Your taste buds...
Read moreI came here after reading the reviews when I was in the Skiatook area. I also had a craving for chicken fried steak, which was okay. I read more about their burgers and breakfast items on the menu and probably should have ordered one of those items. The staff was very friendly and quick with the order. I would caution anyone interested in snapping a few photos without telling them you are doing a review before you take any photos. They are not used to outsiders...
Read moreWe camped at the lake for the weekend and ate breakfast here and it was amazing. They were very busy but we didn’t have much of a wait time and I don’t think I’ve ever had a better omelet or biscuits and gravy. I love that it’s served on paper plates and I could take my extra with me. Everyone was so friendly. We...
