Our server was fantastic, they did the best they could with what they had. That's about the only nice thing I can say about the experience of eating here.
The food is bland, overpriced, and comes in small portions. I went in with very low expectations and they still weren't met.
Edit (6/11/2023): As I have received a lackluster response, allow me to expound on, nay, monologue about this outrrrrrageous establishment.
In hindsight, it is true that I could have mustered the courage to approach the proprietor about the dismal food and the overall unsatisfactory dining experience while I was still within the confines of his establishment. Alas, it swiftly became abundantly clear that his attention was solely fixated on matters other than addressing the concerns of his valued patrons. With an unsettling intensity, he shamelessly ogled the women at a nearby table, leering with a disturbing sense of entitlement. As a courteous gentleman of refined sensibilities, I firmly believe in respecting personal boundaries and not disrupting one's passionate pursuits. Hence, it would have been wholly improper and exceedingly discourteous for me to interrupt a man so deeply engrossed in engaging with his questionable "passion."
Thus, I chose the path of least disturbance, opting to quietly accept the disappointment served on my plate, begrudgingly pay the exorbitant bill, and promptly make my exit from the premises. After all, it became all too apparent that any attempt to voice my dissatisfaction would have been met with nothing more than indifference or, even worse, a further imposition of the owner's thoroughly unpleasant demeanor.
Such an utter lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service is disheartening to behold from an establishment that supposedly places great emphasis on the satisfaction of its esteemed clientele. One would naturally expect an owner to take a genuine interest in the experiences of those who choose to grace his establishment, diligently working to rectify any shortcomings and relentlessly striving to improve the quality of his offerings. Alas, in this particular case, it seems that the owner's self-indulgence and imposing nature have unapologetically overshadowed any semblance of providing a truly pleasant dining experience.
Regarding the audacious suggestion of seeking solace in a nearby McDonald's, I must express my bemusement. While it is true that fast-food establishments hold their rightful place in the vast culinary landscape, they can hardly serve as a fair comparison to the refined ambiance and unparalleled quality one should rightfully expect from a truly distinguished restaurant. Moreover, it is worth emphasizing that evaluating the shortcomings of a dining experience does not render one unworthy of offering judgment or expressing their well-deserved opinions.
In light of the circumstances, I find it utterly regrettable that my initial review failed to adequately capture the full extent of my profound disappointment with this establishment. The lackluster food, the exorbitant prices, and the inhospitable atmosphere, all compounded by the owner's audacious behavior, ultimately culminated in an experience that fell far below even the most modest of expectations. It is my sincere hope that future diners, armed with the knowledge I now impart, shall exercise due caution and prudence before subjecting themselves to this establishment's woefully underwhelming offerings and the proprietor's disconcerting disposition.
May your culinary adventures be filled with far more delectable and rewarding experiences,...
Read moreIt had been 14 years since I had been in this place. They did remodel the place. Which need to be done. Just not a fan of the Continuous bench seating against the walls. Service could have been a lot better. Had one girl take food order. Another one brought the food to the table and I asked if I could get a glass of milk. Then I seen another Waitress and asked her for the glass of milk Then I finally got the glass of milk. Why should I have had 3 different waitress. 🤔
The quality of the food could have been alot better for the prices they where charging.
The hashbrowns where cold 🥶 ...!!! Toast did not come out with the meal. no Jelly Selection on the table had to ask for it. My son order Sausage gravy and biscuit And to be honest. i had to give the kid credit because I wouldn't have feed it to the dog. It was a really lite color brown grave with hardly any sausage in it and it had no tast to it.
The food is no where as good as it use to be. What a shame because this use to be the place to eat breakfast at. Years ago this place was always packed for breakfast. There was only 10 tables that had guest at them. time was 8am on a Wednesday morning.
This is the Response I got from the owner " Response from the owner 3 hours ago Obviously you must’ve been in a different restaurant we don’t make sausage gravy never have you must be one of those people that you can’t satisfy no matter what you do you have yourself a great day McDonald’s is always open! "
I apologize Mike..!! you are right about the sausage gravy. Shame on me for making that mistake sir. But your waitres must have not even know that, you don't serve it. because she never Advice us that you didn't serve it.
But now that I'm thinking about it. that would explain the 2 Hockey pucks on a plate, that was post to be sausage. you must get your sausage from the same Distributor as McDonald's. because sir that was about the quality of your food, you be serving. Now we aren't above cutting up sausage to add it in to the gravy and biscuit. When we know that is what we have to do. from the get go. your Service staff should have communicated that.
So with all that being said. there you have it if you want Traditional sausage gravy and biscuits. Carolina cafe doesn't Sell it.
And from reading some of the other reviews. Mike you can’t take a little Creative criticism.
The owner would recommend McDonald’s Aint that right Mike...!! Bless your heart that is so kind of you to recommend them have a nice...
Read moreWe had a pretty rough experience here. We went on a Saturday around 1 - because it was painted on their window that they served breakfast 10-2. I ordered a BLT with a side of fries. Then my boyfriend ordered an omelet with a side of bacon. The waitress told him he couldn't get a side of bacon because they stopped serving breakfast. Wait, what? What about the omelet? And I literally just ordered a BLT - so bacon between bread is ok? Anyway, no breakfast. Which is really why we chose the spot - it was painted across the front of the building that they were serving breakfast. Ok, that's ok - he scratched the omelet all together and ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. Food came, my sandwich was fine but they forgot my fries. I asked for them, they were $2.50 - I attached a photo of the serving. Yikes! To make a point and because that is RIDICULOUS, I didn't eat one of them. I asked the waitress if that was really the correct serving size - she said it was and that she felt like it wasn't enough but she didn't make the decisions. She's right! A few bites into the meal my boyfriend realized there was no bacon on his burger. (They weren't joking about no bacon for him!) We let the waitress know and she went back to the kitchen. Didn't see her again so we finished up and decided to let them know as we paid. We did - the owner came to talk to us. He asked if we were sure there was no bacon. Um, yes? HE ASKED AGAIN. My boyfriend owned a food truck for 5 years, used bacon every single day - yes, we know what bacon is and we didn't get any of it. Then, he asked if we were sure it wasn't on the the bottom of the burger. YES, we were sure. After insulting our ability to identify to bacon several times - he said he was going to take care of us and not charge for the BLT. Blamed it on the new cook. Ok, I appreciate that, but honestly, you didn't take care of us. It's not about the money - but the tactless approach to problem. Bad experience. We...
