First - the pricing here for the quantity and quality of food seems off - but to be fair that appears typical of Spokane eateries as a whole. The salad bar, while fairly well appointed, is small and has only 2 or 3 options that are not clearly pizza-toppings added to the bar. My wife and I came in, ordered nachos, a sandwich (no fries), 2 salad bars, and 2 drinks. The bill before tip was $54. For nachos, a sandwich, and 2 salads? The sandwich, a Hawaiin sandwich that sounded good and actually was decent was wholly overpriced at $12 for what it was (again - no fries). The "canadian bacon", swiss, pineapple and red-sauce) was a nice concoction but the "canadian bacon" was the ultra-thin sliced vacuum pack variety; the pineapple the literally out-of-a-can variety (call me crazy but a sandwich use of pineapple screams for sliced pineapple - not slivers); and the sandwich size a very small hoagie-bun type.
Add to this the very lackluster help (one of the hosts seemed friendly enough and seemed almost to be trying to compensate for the other server that was totally unengaged, uninspired, and unhelpful).
Finally the setting as a whole is a bit irksome for the mid-to-older generation that - candidly - prefer to be catered to when eating out. If I wanted to get my own food and drinks - I'd stay at home. Why am I giving a tip to put in the order and get the food myself?
If I'm going to receive essentially bar food and have to serve myself, I would expect the price to reflect that. At $54 for 2 ho-hum meals - the balance is way off.
Needless to say - I...
Read moreWe are currently moving our Hospitality Consulting company to Spokane from the east coast and making an effort to visit as many restaurants as we can in a short period of time. We originally arrived at Outlaw BBQ but the place was packed and were on a 40 minute wait (Tuesday evening around 7:00!). Since we had our children we decided to visit next door for Fieldhouse. Not one customer in the place, seriously. I ordered a calzone, good sauce, stretchy cheese, and filled with meats. Kids meals were fine as well. My wife ordered a BLT. Bacon way over cooked, black, hard, and even cut my wife's roof of her mouth. So now we paid top $ for a lettuce and tomato sandwich. No one came by to ask how it was so we just dealt with it. Two employees (a cook and a server) both had possession of this BLT and neither told the other "we cant serve this sandwich because I wouldn't eat it".
My biggest problem was trying to find a clean table for my family to sit down at. Remember, the place is empty. Food on the floor, high chairs filthy. They had 3 female employees and 2 cooks that I could see...no manager I assume as they seem to be having themselves a party.
I knew in my gut to go somewhere else when I saw the Dining room empty but we were hungry and in a hurry. Some local friends told us that it's owned by a Selkirk (sp) company so I'll look into it for the future. No owner or manager placard around or else I wouldn't make a public review but this is straight up business neglect. Such a shame as the deco was...
Read moreI have been there one time and the service and food was great. It was quite busy at the time. There was one employee that I really admired because he was one that new what he was doing. Looked like the were quite a few orders but this employee did not hesitate but put his all in to making sure that each order was handled in a very quality way and delivered in a timely matter. He knew his way around the kitchen and made sure that things were on the front line and ready to use when needed. I have had a lot of experience over 20 years + in a kitchen and this young man stepped right up to put out quality food. I heard that now he is no longer there because the fieldhouse fired him. This young man's name is, Michael Rennie. Not sure why he was fired but now that he is gone I know that the quality of food and customer service won't be the same. I'll never go back into the fieldhouse ever again because I know that the people that are working there now don't have the experience that Mr. Rennie had. They are all pretty much newer employees and won't be as qualified as Mr. Rennie was. I'm going to spread that word...
