This restaurant came highly recommended, so I was surprised by how poorly of an experience we had. The overall restaurant appearance is quite nice, and the selection of food and drink is good as well. The issues we had were with the service and quality of food. Our server did not come to our table for some time when we first got seated and did not take our food order until 15+ minutes after he got us waters. Throughout our stay, he was seemingly unavailable the entire time; I would see many other workers running in and out every minute, but our server would not appear for several minutes at a time. Regarding the food, we had multiple issues. Our poutine appetizer had virtually no gravy or meat, and after asking one of the runners for a side of gravy, she came back and said the appetizer would be taken off the check. While this gesture was a welcome surprise, it clearly indicates that it was not prepared properly. The mac and cheese I ordered with brisket was severely lacking in cheese as well; it was virtually buttered noodles dusted with parmesan cheese (another reviewer here showed their picture of a creamy mac and cheese; mine was not creamy or cheesy at all). With the price the meal was commanding, it simply was not worth it at all. A salad ordered was also lacking in chicken and dressing, but they did provide additional dressing when requested. The news is not all negative though, as the brisket in the mac and cheese was plentiful and quite good. The cove old fashioned was also very good, and an order of the Nashville chicken sandwich was also up to par. But the negatives overwhelmingly outweigh the positives here. I hope that this visit was a “one-off” bad day considering all the hype I was told, but this first impression was...
Read moreWe showed up tonight for our reservations which were made 2.5 weeks ago via telephone for the outside bubble. We were then told that whomever took our reservation didn't mark us down and they were unable to accommodate us for a bubble after arguing with us about making the reservation very rudely then owning up to their mistake. They offered to let us eat inside and a free appetizer and drink for our party of 4 for their mistake.. okay that sounded like a good deal and I understand mistakes happen. We weren't rude and were very understanding and happy they tried to make things right. While we were eating the owners wife was inside talking bad about the customers. THEN as we got up from the table to leave, one of our men had a mask in his hand about to put it on. The waitress stood in front of him demanding him to put his mask on and wouldn't let him walk forward. He told her he was putting it on and we were leaving. The owners wife then said "it's people like you that are the reason we even have this covid going on in the first place" which was very uncalled for. But the worst part is she was SITTING THERE WITH HER MASK PULLED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON HER CHIN NOT COVERING EVEN HER MOUTH OR NOSE! We asked where her mask was and she said she wasn't around anyone so didn't need one. VERY unprofessional and will not ever be returning or giving a good word due to the unprofessionalism we experienced. VERY DISAPPOINTED THE COVE, ALWAYS SPOKE GOOD ABOUT THIS PLACE UNTIL TONIGHT!!!!! Even worse, I am a Healthcare worker for a local facility which cares for covid patients. Very degrading for such a hurtful...
Read moreRestaurant has changed and not for the better. Used to love coming here - The atmosphere was great. However, this was my first time going back since COVID hit and it's awful. Not sure if there was a change in ownership or just staff, but the woman who sat us at our table was also our waitress, and she had an attitude the entire time we were there. She sat a larger party of 6 or 7 people beside us and had absolutely no attitude... You don't treat larger parties better than your smaller parties just because you know you won't be getting as big of a tip right away... you never know who you're going to encounter.
She's definitely too young and immature to be working there. My boyfriend got his food - he ordered a $30 steak... it came out and was just as thin as the asparagus that he ordered... in other words, if you want a steak worth the $30... go to Texas Roadhouse, you'll get MUCH more for your money...
Long story short, this place has gone down hill and will continue to do so if something doesn't change. I never leave bad reviews EVER unless my experience was extremely poor or negative. Like I said, I used to love coming here.
** Based on others reviews on facebook, it appears I'm not the only one that thinks negatively of this woman hostess/waitress.. it also seems that she may be the one running the restaurants Facebook page - just basing this on the negative comments I have read on others previous discouraging reviews.... if you see this, I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not an insult... either way, commenting negatively on other bad reviews just makes you and the restaurant look...
