Went to Sunset West for the last time today. Should have left as soon as we walked in. Struggled to find a table when we walked in because none of the dishes had been cleared from previous diners. We were told to seat ourselves as is usual, and did so at a 6 top even though we were a party of 3 because it was the only table available. We were later chastised quite rudely by the busser that they needed the table for larger groups, which obviously was not our fault. Coffee and water was prompt as usual, and the food order also went in quickly. Food itself however did not arrive for a minimum of 45 minutes. When it did, the pancakes we received were so cold butter wouldn't melt on them. We also received cold, doughy French toast, frozen sausages, and corned beef hash that was so burned it left black stains on the plate while eating it. We were also given white toast instead of the wheat we requested. After getting our food and our check, our waitress dissapeared completely or was unavailable because she was serving her "regulars". No more refills on coffee, or water were provided after this time even though we were still eating. After going to pay the bill and requesting boxes, she vanished for around 15 minutes till half of our party went to the car, and she stated that she had completely forgotten about us. If you aren't a regular diner they know personally, don't expect to have...
Read moreI went to Sunset West Restaurant for breakfast. The food was good but portions were small and they were severely understaffed. It took 45 minutes to get our food after ordering and people that came in after us received theirs first. The cream chipped beef over home fries was served on 6" side dish plate and both that and the pancakes that were ordered were served cold. There were only two waitresses who were also seating, bussing tables, and ringing people up. They clearly needed more help so I tried to be as patient as possible. They checked on tables by standing behind the counter pointing at tables saying "Are you good, are you good, do you need anything, how about you." No one dared ask for a drink refill, extra napkins, or anything. The staff was nice and welcoming but the tense environment with limited help made us want to scarf down our food and just get back on the road. Also, they only accept cash as payment so make sure you're prepared for that before you order. It's a decent place to stop if you want to sit down for a meal, but if you're looking for hot home-cooked food with phenomenal service, this probably...
Read moreWhile on a trip down to PA my father and I stopped at this restaurant for lunch. Here I received less than satisfactory service along with mediocre food. The waitress was distracted by either her Apple Watch or other employees the entire time there. More than once she stopped herself mid-sentence to either talk to someone else or read a text. Not to mention she didn’t even acknowledge us when we walked in and continued to chat with another employee for at least 8-10 minutes. The food was lukewarm (soup & chili) while the fried goods (mozz sticks & fries) tasted as if they’d came out of oil that hadn’t been changed in decades. In the end our total was 30$ for two soups and two fried goods. Not to mention the 7$ tip left despite the service. I asked for a box seeing as I didn’t want to waste the mozz sticks, but never received one. The waitress was too busy gossiping with others. We waited at least ten minutes for someone to bring us one before deciding to just leave. I wrapped my mozz sticks in a napkin and left 😭 I do not recommend this place, especially if you are someone traveling and...
