Great looking place, probably see's lucrative times being in such close proximity to Crystal Mountain..but this day it did not..very light crowd, and the staff seemed to be overwhelmed..the table next to us ordered a round of cocktails and the waitress stopped at the empty table next to us and actually used her fingers to pull out a few gnats that were in a mug of beer..poor guy next to us that got the beer, I just didn't have the heart to tell him..my dinner was horrible..I ordered a medium cooked burger that was more like a tire patch and smelled of one too many days in the fridge..the chips that came with the burger were bottom of the bag pieces and were stale.. when I took my first bite of the burger, the bun actually broke apart..it too was stale.. my wife ordered the taco salad bowl..stale bowl..she ordered the cheese casadilla..they used stale flour tortillas..the chewyness of it instantly gave that away.. I ordered a can of beer, it tasted like it got warm and cold several times over.. the waitress pleaded how sorry she was about the beer and brought me a replacement..it too was rank..I never complained to anyone about the food, we paid for everything, which again, because of the close proximity to Crystal Mountain resort, the bill was outrageous compared to the quality of food and service..will we ever come back in the future?..this one is a direct NO..I don't mind spending money, I just don't like throwing it away..terrible shame tho, this really looked like a nice place..in this case, the cover was better...

One of our favorite places to eat Up North and have a good time, the food is delicious and the wait staff are excellent and make for a wonderful experience.......... Unfortunately I would however avoid this place on Fridays due to the OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD music the DJ plays staring at 8pm right in the middle of dinner crowd. Although charismatic and good at working the crowd the DJ has no concept of volume control, I have sat many of nights and watched customers walk in and right back out(myself included):due to the noise level, when addressed by the wait staff he will turn it down momentarily and then a few minutes later it will be right back up.The DJ is paid a flat fee and has nothing to lose based on his performance yet it's the wonderful wait staff and ownership that suffer week in and week out. A simple solution to correct this issue would be to have the wait staff control the volume level until food is no longer being served. If you want be able to hear the person sitting next you and or the wait staff I would AVOID this place on Fridays, any other day of the week I would give it 5 stars unfortunately Friday gets a 1...

Absolutely Magical Experience at 231 Bar & Grill!

After an adventurous float down the river, my boyfriend, my best friend, and I stopped into 231 Bar & Grill — and we are so glad we did. What started as a quick bite turned into a whole vibe thanks to Cathy and the incredible soul friend we met there who was into crystals and energy work.

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the energy was just right — like the universe knew we needed to land there. Cathy made us feel like we were home the moment we walked in. She’s warm, funny, and real — the kind of person you instantly connect with.

Then came this beautiful soul we met who was into crystals... the kind of encounter you don’t plan, but absolutely treasure. We ended up sharing stories, laughs, and such good energy — it felt like a little pocket of divine timing in the middle of our day.

The food? Delicious. The vibes? Immaculate. The people? Unforgettable.

We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for making our post-river day...

This place is incredible! My family and i drove a couple hours north to ride the Crystal Mountain Coaster and stopped by here on our way back home. We were incredibly surprised by the great service we received and followed by even better food! Sometimes it’s hard to find something to eat when you’re out of town but when you find a great place like this it makes the experiences and memories all the better!! And to top it off they even have an awesome bar, beautiful shuffle board, and live music!

Finally made it out to the 231. I have to say. It was great! I got the perch dinner. Not the best I ever had, but definitely good and well worth the price. The place is clean and well decorated. Service on the other hand was a bit off on this trip. She did her best but we waited a long time to finally get our bill and pay to leave. Not the end of the world. Definitely going back.
