We frequent this establishment I would say 3-4 times a week prior to this evening. This was a place that we excitedly waited to open in the Spring and would be disappointed when it closed in the early Fall. However, this evening when we were going to pick up an ice cream and hot dog for my six year old son we were greeted with terrible customer service. We didn't know however, hot dogs stop being served at 7:00 pm we were told that it would be a six minute wait and we gladly decided to wait so we drove around to let the individuals behind us in the drive through line get their ice cream while we waited. However, when we got back to the window my husband asked the girl at the window if the hot dog was ready and she laughed and said well maybe. When she closed the window she proceeded to call my husband rude to the other workers. When she opened the window he asked her about it and she blushed thinking he hadn't been able to hear her but still just stared at him without an apology for saying that. He asked for the manager on duty and she came to the window when my husband explained what happened the manager followed up with the question "well was it true? were you being rude?" Now, I have worked as a server previously and even started out as a 16 year old working in an ice cream shop myself. I have had to deal with my fair share of rude customers and how we were treated this evening is in no way correct. I am so disappointed and appalled that this is allowed at a place that we have already given so much business to. Fair warning to anyone that goes here you may find yourself in this exact situation yourself so buyer beware of the true colors of this business and their level of customer...

Service was decent, definitely a busy place focused on churning out product as fast as possible since they have to juggle a counter and a drive-thru line simultaneously.

I am a Butterfinger flurry kind of guy, and I gave this place 3 or 4 chances over the last couple years. Every flurry from here was the same experience and bottom tier compared to other similar mom and pops I've frequented in Traverse City, Ferndale, Holly, etc. Normally a flurry is simply soft serve in a cup with chunky crushed candy mixed throughout, even at chains like Dairy Queen and Sonic. Every flurry I get from this place is Butterfinger dust or powder blended in with a small teaspoon of Butterfinger chunks garnishing the top. The end result creates a pale imitation of what you might be anticipating.

Seems like a pretty cheapskate way to make a flurry to me, but business is gonna business I guess. While some of their other offerings may please the palate, there's other places that make proper flurries close by. Overall, 3 stars. Not nearly the 5 star legendary status it's 4.8 rating might lead you to believe, but not a terrible place by any means. It's simply just O.K.

Update 04/19/2024: Decided to give them another try as they reopened for the season. Got a medium flurry, asked for EXTRA butterfinger in it and ITS STILL 99.5% just soft serve ice cream, talk about...

We have always enjoyed our experience here, but they are dead to us now and I will make sure no one I know goes there ever again. Our 7 year old son, who is the sweetest kid on the planet, loved the color changing spoon that he got with his ice cream. He was talking about being excited to keep it. He accidently threw it away once he was done. He was very sad, but decided to be brave and go up by himself and ask for another one. He was met by a grump old woman (owner?), and the interaction was ridiculous. The grumpy old lady asked him if he is getting a new ice cream or had ice cream. My son said no, and explained he threw it away by accident and really wanted to keep it. The man told him no... Something that costs pennies. They will never have our business again. If you cannot have the heart to be kind to little kids, you should not have a business like this.

Please my other reviews. I do not normally leave negative reviews, but this has left...

WARNING: If your child asks for a soft serve ice cream cone do not let them get it dipped. For some reason their soft serve is not cold enough to handle being dipped. When I started eating mine it immediately started dripping uncontrollably. I had to eat it FAST to avoid making a huge mess. I also had to hold the cone out to avoid having it drip on my shoes. By the end my hand was completely covered in ice cream. Was shocked because I have never had this problem before at any other ice cream shop. Couldn't help but think that if a kid tried to eat this it would end up dripping all over their shoes and clothes and making a terrible mess, especially if eaten in the car. Plus they do not have public restrooms to clean yourself off in.

I hope to improve my rating in the future after trying a different ice cream. I’ve only been to Frosty Freeze once and got the Dirt Sundae. Honestly, it was pretty bland. Vanilla ice cream with cookie crumble, gummy worms, and “hot fudge” that was *cold.* Other members of my party noted that the lemon sorbet (lactose free!) and the Tennessee Toffee were very good.
