I'm not crazy about the place. We decided to go grab a bite to eat a little later than usual which was right around 8:30/9:00pm. This place was previously a restaurant/ bar type of establishment called the Firehouse Grille & Pub which we frequented from time to time. It's crazy how different the whole vibe is, it's like the energy of the place is completely different now that it's this Mexican Restaurant. The energy seems to feel annoyed, rushed and bored at the same time. There were barely any other customers when we arrived but even still, the service was awful. The guy who sat us at a table and was only supposed to take our drink orders basically did the serving. He took our orders for drinks and food and said our waitress would be right over. Someone else brought out our food and we were again told our waitress would be right over with refills and napkins but neither happened. Finally at the very end of our visit she finally made time for us but that was only to bring us the bill. I had my empty glass sitting at the edge of the table after eating about half of my meal but it went unnoticed all the way until she came back to the table to collect our money which she finally offered to get me a refill, I let her know I would've loved one about 20 minutes sooner or anytime between then and now but not to worry about it now because I was just ready to leave. To make things better there were about 3 gnats which flew around our salsa and white cheese dip the entire time we were there and they only stopped after one of them got stuck after landing in our bowl of cheese dip and I finally was able to squash a second one, the third one is probably still there flying around. Long story short, this definitely isn't somewhere I'll be visiting by choice any time soon and hopefully if I do get drug back in to this place by friends or something I hope they do something to make the energy of the place much more inviting, pleasurable, bug free and just a fun and positive experience instead of whatever it is that we...
Read moreThis was our second time visiting! We had an excellent experience one Sunday afternoon with all aspects. Tonight, we ventured off to that great Mexican place and were very disappointed. The food was not quite as tasty, but still decent.
Certainly noisy, but not overwhelming in the back room.
The service however from the ginger waitress: abymssal at best. Quite frankly, that was the worst service I have had from anywhere in quite some time.
I very frequently eat out due to heavy travel and have not had to wait for 30 minutes trying to pay before giving up and finding somebody willing to take payment for dinner. We were asked by the waitress if we wanted boxes while leaving the check only moments after the kitchen staff promptly brought our order to the table. She disappeared immediately after that and never returned. She looked out direction on many occasions but neglected to check on us, supply boxes, take payment, or even simply walk by. Very disappointed.
We truly enjoyed our first experience which will land a third attempt. Perhaps she was having...
Read moreSo when a Mexican restaurant opens literally around the corner from your house, it’s a civic duty to investigate, and Casa del Lago did not disappoint. The menu is huge, and had several choices I have not seen before. It is billed as serving recipes handed down from prior generations, and the unique, yet familiar flavor profiles seem to confirm their authenticity. I had the camarones del cache, shrimp and fresh vegetables and onions in a chipotle cheese sauce that was plate full of creamy, spicy goodness. My wife ordered their chicken fajita taco salad, and dubbed it her new favorite taco salad, a real feat given she is very particular about them. It is great to have Mexican food right around the corner. It is awesome to have REALLY GOOD Mexican food around the corner. We may as well rent a table, because we will be...
