During our recent visit to the Springtown Inn in Springtown PA., we had a rather disappointing experience that left us feeling unsatisfied. Please note our server should get 5 stars as she was excellent during the experience. We don’t send food back at any restaurant or complain for fear of retaliation from an insecure chef or attitude from the kitchen.
Our guest arrived early and decided to take a seat at the bar while waiting for the rest of us to arrive. However, the bartender informed our guest that the seat was reserved. When our guest moved to other seats (several times) in the bar they were told the same thing. What kind of restaurant or bar wants this type of culture? Additionally, when my wife and I arrived, the initial interaction was less than friendly and left us feeling unwelcome.
Our guest ordered the Chicken Milanese, but unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The chicken was overcooked, resulting in a dry and burnt texture. It was evident that the dish had been fried for too long, leaving our guest with an unappetizing meal. Our guest was so disappointed that they apologetically told us they couldn't bring themselves to eat it.
My wife ordered the Gnocchi. The potato made pasta had the consistency of mashed potatoes instead of pasta. The ratio of sauce to pasta was off. So much sauce, so little pasta ?
I had the Filet Oscar. The meat was done at the right temperature, however the whole taste of the dish was distracted by butter. There was so much butter on my dish it was hard to eat and enjoy the taste of the food. The meat sat on top of a fried potato croquette which was deep fried, burnt, and saturated with butter.
When you go to a high end restaurant that is expensive, there is an expectation that the atmosphere will be inviting, friendly and professional and the food is prepared correctly. A customer has an obligation to be reasonable and tip correctly and the restaurant needs to prepare the food that corresponds with the price tag.
If I could give 0 stars I could and would give our server 5 stars. ...
Read moreWe stopped in for happy hour last Friday - an acquaintance posted on their fb page about their happy hour specials so we thought we would give it a try. We didn't even have our seats picked at the bar or our coats off before the bartender asked for our drink order, when we did decide where we were sitting the bartender told us that we were leaving a single seat for a customer , we needed to move, this was 4:30 in the afternoon, understandably if they get busy - so we moved over 1 seat. We asked for a drink menu and the hh specials - the specials she mentioned were not what I had on my phone so I asked - and I showed her the post, she told me they were wrong, it was an old post from last summer, I went on to their own facebook page and brought up the post which was posted a day earlier - stated happy hour specials for the New Year. The bartender then said one of the other owners posted it, its wrong, no apologies just argumentative over it. We had to ask to see a bar menu, there was only one other couple at the bar - so much for being attentive or friendly. The food on the post for happy hour was not available either. Two of us ordered a beer and one a martini, when my companion finished his beer - at the bottom of the glass was a piece of broken glass, which resembled the glass of a Stella glass - gold rimmed, curved. He asked the bartender to come over and again, she never apologized she actually argued with him over the glass, that their glasses are upside down and couldn't have had glass in it - did she really think we brought the glass with us??? When we left there were 2 couples at tables in the bar - so much for worrying about what seats we chose... The bartender was rude, unapologetic and we will not be going back there! Check out the Golden Pheasant if you want a over the top meal...
Read moreGarbage!! Service, Garbage! I just don’t know how they are still in business. I live less than 8 mins away and every experience is garbage. I support local community…so I keep trying it. And I think that’s my last try. Even just parking at a different restaurant is better than anything the Springtown can offer.
Below are previous experiences reviews.
First, our server For dinner should have 5 stars on her own! Unfortunately, new menu and management has not brought any improvement. Entry was awkward and unwelcoming. The server from previous management that “welcomed” with closed arms and a painful smile was as cold as a cod fish and is still there from previous times. She sat us in the dining room. We had young kids and hungry adults...an easy big bill and big tip and yet, she was still that cold cod fish as before. The special menu for Mother’s Day weekend was high $ for a stuffy space and dated offering option. Luckily, the NEW sweet and wonderful server...you know who you are...came in and saved the day. Even after a kitchen error which broke up the dining timing...this wonderful person made the best of it for us. Thank you. This woman gets five stars on service! Everything else though needs some attention. I will give it one more shot, only if the outdoor area is available to eat at. Chef/Owner, if you read this, diversify your menu with simple efforts. The burgers are great...go with it. Your hours are strange and so is the cascade, don’t go for stuffy-fancy. Go for cost effective, good options. You got the one page menu down, time to make that one page worth the time to stop in. I will give this place another shot, even after 4 strikes. From our group of 7, I am the only one to say I’d give it another go and only because of our...
