The Home Tavern — Restaurant in Springfield Township

Huge improvement once new owner Debbie took over! Unfortunately, Becky is still employed & bartends. (I would give a 5 star otherwise) We've waited many, many times as she just walks on by as tho she doesn't see us. People she likes will walk in after us & have their drinks waiting before they even find a seat, as we continue to even be acknowledged. If the owners are there to see (as she did with Howard) she becomes super-bartender, making any complaints against her sound rediculous. & It's not like we don't tip either. Our tips are always fair or above average. Once I walked up & told her my drink order. I was the only one ordering at the time. She looked at me, walked away into the kitchen, & came back knawing on a chicken wing. She finished it, threw the bone in the garbage, THEN proceeded to pour the drinks I ordered. I paid her & left her with no tip. She just doesn't care. She doesn't answer the phones either.

Outside of her, they've gone non-smoking, have a nice patio, food is good, every Saturday alternates prime rib or Delmonico steak dinners & they are amazing! Well, most of the time food is food. My husband stopped to order food to bring home last Sunday. I had him order me a Greek hot dog with the melted cheddar cheese. Sign says order here. Waited in line of 10 people to place my order. While bartender( only 1 behind bar) was also waiting on customers who walk up and order at other places at the bar. Finally got to place my order for a steak I had heard so much about. Phone ringing non-stop. Said to bartender " looks like you could use a little help". Got scoffed at, reply "Nah" . Got my beer and sat down. Waited over 1 hr for my order. Went to bar by kitchen door to inquire about order. Now 2 bartenders. Meagan, very pleasant, said she would check on it. Came back and said my order was taken out. Very apologetic. Other bartender just walk by. Did say "sorry" in my general direction. They were nice enough to comp my beverage order. While waiting I did notice others getting disappointed having to wait in line and leaving. Stopped here passing through from NY to MI- it was an easy on and off the highway which was a plus! The Home Tavern offered typical pub grub- and MORE! Atmosphere was homey and they seemed pretty busy with locals- FRIENDLY LOCALS! The food was hot and fresh and there were numerous beverage options. The hot wings could have been a little spicier for me but the overall flavor was excellent. We were in and out in an hour and back on the road- and squeezed in a game of pool while we waited on our food. My negative point was on the bartender- she seemed overwhelmed and moody and definitely didn't want to be there, but I spoke to another employee who chatted with me about my trip, and put a smile right back on my face...
