Long Island Cafe is a true standout when it comes to comfort food done right. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles by the staff that makes you feel like family. The atmosphere is inviting, and the food? Absolutely unforgettable.
The portions are generous, & everything on the menu is packed with flavor. For a simple yet satisfying start to your day, the classic big island which includes eggs, meat, potatoes, and toast are my go-to favorite—perfectly cooked and delicious. They have a hidden homemade jam called raspberry or Marionberry. The raspberry is delicious! If you’re craving something on the sweeter side, the French toast and cinnamon roll pancakes are indulgent treats that never disappoint. The pancakes are fluffy, rich, and bursting with that warm cinnamon flavor, making them a must-try.
One of the standout breakfast options is the avocado toast—fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. It’s one of those dishes you’ll come back for time and again. BUT- if you’re looking for something truly special, don’t miss the Belgian pearl waffles. These are hands-down the best waffles I’ve ever had, with pearl sugar crystals throughout that give them an irresistible crunch. Topped with fresh fruit, strawberries and homemade whipped cream, that make them a sweet masterpiece.
For lunch, Long Island Cafe continues to impress. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, massive (2 patties) and cooked just right. But what really takes the meal to the next level are the Island Fries—an inventive twist on steak fries & covered with a light beer batter that makes them crispy, golden, and absolutely addictive. 🤤
If you’re in the mood for something a little different, the New York Melt—whether in flatbread or sandwich form—is a bold and savory option. The steak is seasoned and cooked to perfection, delivering a rich, satisfying bite every time.
Coffee lovers will also be thrilled to know that Long Island Cafe serves freshly ground Hawaiian coffee daily. It’s rich, aromatic, and quite honestly, the best cup of regular coffee in town!
Whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savory, a hearty breakfast or a filling lunch, Long Island Cafe offers something for every craving. This place is more than just a meal—it’s an experience, and one you’ll want to come back to...
Read moreMy morning started at Long Island Cafe in Battle Creek, Michigan, and it was a fantastic choice. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top-notch, thanks to our server, Scarlet. Our group was seated promptly, and Scarlet was with us right away. She was friendly, attentive, and had a great sense of humor. She was able to answer all our questions about the menu and offered some excellent recommendations. She made us feel so welcome and taken care of throughout our meal. As for the food, it was incredible. The menu has a great variety of breakfast options, and everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. It was perfectly prepared with a generous portion. My caramel pecan pancake was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere of the cafe is also a treat—it has a charming, island-themed decor that's cheerful and inviting. The restaurant was steady, which is always a good sign, but we never felt rushed. Overall, I highly recommend Long Island Cafe for anyone looking for a delicious breakfast with exceptional service. Be sure to ask for Scarlet; she'll make your dining experience...
Read moreWhat I ordered - half order biscuit & gravy, over medium egg, coffee
What I loved ---The egg was cooked perfectly. All the runny yellow I want, with none of the runny white that I hate. ---service was friendly and fast. ---Having the option to pay using my phone was awesome. My somewhat ancient phone had no problem reading the barcode to link to the payment site (can be a problem at some places) ---atmosphere was great, so much better than when this building was a brewery. The carpet makes it much less noisy and warmer.
What I enjoyed ---Coffee was good. Nothing to bump it up to Loved, but it was good, "breakfast place" coffee. Was offered a warm up well before I had finished the cup.
What I neither loved, nor enjoyed ---the biscuit and gravy. Bland is too interesting a word to describe it. Couldn't shake the unpleasant sensation that I was just eating gelatinous flour on top of more solid flour. Pepper helped, but not enough to ever make me order it again. Thankfully, the menu is full of several interesting and tasty sounding items...
