It's with regret to score a one star - the tour started off so well but ended with bitter disappointment. My partner and I were part of the wine train tour, not a cheap way to see the vine yards but definitely the best and we'd do it again - 100%. However we'd insist not to visit Charles Krug, or just stay on the train and not disembark. The tour started by being greeted by our tour guide and given the first taster. Let's fast forward to the cellar part of the tour, we were given a cab sav to try and a little cheese and meat taster to enjoy with the wine thimble. Whilst the tour guide was giving the brief I walked round to the table to re-pour some more wine - after all we're wine tasting aren't we?? Whilst pouring the tour guide stopped talking and barked at me, what do you think you're doing? I explained the obvious and said I was trying another taste. It must be noted that I apologised and didn't ask as didn't want to interrupt their talking. The bottle was removed from my hand and told if I wanted more then everyone may want another taster. WTF - we're wine tasting aren't we?? But not to belittle the tour guide or cause a scene I kept quiet and walked away. We were then invited to go up stairs to try the executive cab sav, I noticed the tour guide returned the bottles we were thimbling in the cellar. One full bottle, one with a quarter still in the bottle. There were circa 16 on the tour, each couple had dropped $800 = $6,400.00. Yes there is costs for the train etc.

Once upstairs the tour guide had lost the respect of the group as no-one purchased anything from the vineyard, and this is all down the to tour guide being completely out of line. Whilst talking about the exec cab sav, people were looking around at the various paintings and history displayed. Reading some of the other reviews left I would suggest Charles Krug remember people are drawn by wine tasting - a good tasting will resort in sales.

The other 2 vineyards we visited, wine was plentiful - refills offered and everyone...

We stopped in today while we had about an hour to kill.

The pros: beautiful location, hostess was SUPER nice and friendly. They let us in as a walk in. All we wanted to do was to split a bottle and we ordered it up at the bar. Beautiful courtyard area as well.

The cons: honestly the worst part was the guy working at the bar section inside. It was so odd. We were a walk in party of three just looking to split a bottle, try a couple more wines and maybe buy a bit more wine. Rather than try and upsell us or promote the wines, he just seemed to be annoyed that we were there in the first place. After we asked if he had any favorite wines here, He said quote “to drink? I don’t know, i have two tables i have to pour wine for” such a weird thing to say to guests. He was really unable to even describe the wine that we purchased (pinot noir) his only description of it was that it was quote “nice”.

Another con was the pizza. $25 for an overly cheesey pizza with a flimsy dough, with oily sauteed button mushrooms on it— it’s a shame because they have a beatiful pizza oven And access to a culinary garden, and could probably make a great pizza if they had a knowledgeable chef.

I gave it three stars because i would return one day, just because of how wonderful the building/grounds are. In my opinion, they need to work on their systems...

Attended a wine tasting for my daughter’s bachelorette party weekend, which should have been a cherished tradition for many years, I was initially excited about the prospect of exploring the grounds. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the grounds were closed to guests due to a concert scheduled for the previous evening. Despite joining the club as a member, I was disappointed to learn that the primary reason for our visit was the inability to view the grounds. I have been a connoisseur of Charles Krug wines since the 1990s, when I was introduced to their exceptional quality. Therefore, I was particularly let down by the lack of an apology or explanation for the closure. It is simply unacceptable that the grounds were inaccessible due to a concert held the night before. Furthermore, I was told to Come the next day to see the grounds, but I was unable to return to the venue the following morning, as my schedule flight required me to depart early the next day. I hope that the organizers will reconsider their decision in the future to at least place a sign letting their guest know about the closing of grounds before letting your guest spend their hard earned money on the vineyard without being able to walk...

**A Truly Memorable Experience at Krug Vineyard** From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest welcome and a smile that radiated genuine hospitality. The staff truly made us feel like part of the Krug family. Each bottle of wine we tasted was nothing short of exceptional, sparking joy with every sip. It's clear that a lot of heart and passion goes into their wines. Our host, though new to the team, was incredibly knowledgeable, and her bubbly personality added a special touch to our experience. She was engaging, enthusiastic, and made sure we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. As a collector of magnets, I was so happy to find they had some available! It's always fun to have a small souvenir to remember the places I’ve been. The food pairing was another highlight—fresh, flavorful, and abundant, perfectly complementing the wines. It was clear that they take pride in every detail of the experience. The vineyard also has a charming surprise in store—getting to see the animals was an unexpected delight! It added a peaceful, whimsical element to the visit that I’ll always remember. Thank you to everyone at Krug Vineyard for such a warm, welcoming, and unforgettable day. We can’t wait to return!

Having been to the winery multiple times before this era we are in, I’m disappointed, but understand why things are the way the are. Went in for a tasting and a bite to eat. We were greeted, filled out a waiver, temp checked, and escorted to our table. Great use of the picnic area btw. Once seated we were told about our flight in front of us. Apart from ordering food, that was it. No further interaction with the staff. For some that may work, but not for me. I like interacting with the winery team, asking more as I taste, not having a set it and forget it experience. Hope they adjust as we continue these type of experiences.

The wine is fine. However I’d recommend very strongly against viewing any live show at this venue as the visibility of the talent on stage is abysmal, particularly with the Blue Note Napa Summer Sessions series. They attempt to differentiate between GA and VIP, but I would bother with neither as the line of attendees in front effectively blocks any other viewers from enjoying the show. My husband and I spent a fair amount of money to see the Rodrigo and Gabriela show and never got to see the performers. Extremely disappointing and will not visit again unless they exercise some form of drunken crowd control.
