My husband and I came for lunch outside, and after ordering drinks and beginning to check out the menu, the manager aggressively approached us. He informed us that he would "give you the courtesy" of letting us pay for our drinks before we need to "leave immediately" because "dogs are not allowed" (at the outside Tiki bar) and we should have "known better"...? Not good customer service imo, but no problem: I informed him that my dog is a medical alert animal, to which he said he "didn't care one bit" and it's "not my problem" (to explain, not that I owe it to anyone, but my dog alerts to smells I'm severely allergic to, and I can't go anywhere without him). I told him it was a Federal offense and $75k fine to deny Service Animals, and he raised his voice at me across the bar to the point that other patrons asked if I was alright. This is the absolute craziest thing that's ever happened to me at a restaurant, I wish I would have recorded it- these ppl deserve to...
Read moreWe have been coming here since it opened. It is casual and convenient. Not bad, not great. The food was much better before the chef and menu changed. The Balsamic Chicken was classic and one of the best dishes on the menu, but they don't even bring it back as a special. Burgers are pretty good. Not great for Gluten Free, but they do offer a GF bun. Beacon shrimp is excellent. The outside seating is 5 star. Music on Sundays is great. Unfortunately they only have music for a few months of the year. I think the new manager is quite good, and we need to give him a chance to work issues. The service is ok, or at least adequate, but it can be slow. A small ding from a recent trip: The hostess sat a couple ahead of us even after we pointed out we were next and that table should be ours. She told us not to worry because another table would be ready soon. She wasn't mean or anything, she was simply unaware that was an...
Read moreBeacon 315 located at the St. James Marina is our favorite dining location within the St. James Plantation. We live less than 1/2 mile away, so the location is perfect and convenient for when we're not wanting to drive into Southport. The menu is limited, but everything I've tried has been good. The service is usually quick, but that depends on how busy they are at the time. You can book a reservation, but my wife and I usually can find a table or a spot in the tiki bar area if we decide to go at the last minute.
Last evening we celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary at Beacon 315 and were served by J.D. She's "just delightful" and we want to thank her for making our special dinner even...
