Chesapeake Landing is a St. Michaels landmark, a true destination for anyone craving an authentic Maryland seafood experience. Located just outside of the downtown area, it's a bit of a drive, but well worth the trip. We visited on a winter Friday specifically for their renowned weekly seafood buffet, the details of which are cleverly announced on their active social media channels. Our particular Friday feast included unlimited crab cakes, fried oysters, raw oysters, oyster casserole, oyster stew, fried shrimp, mac and cheese, coleslaw, oyster stuffing, and the pièce de résistance, Smith Island cake. Let me just say, this place was packed. The restaurant and parking lot were overflowing, so reservations (which you must make by phone) are absolutely essential unless you're prepared for a considerable wait. However, the constant flow of people is a testament to the food. The buffet was meticulously maintained, with dishes being restocked frequently, ensuring everything was hot and fresh. The endless raw oysters were a highlight – plump, fresh, and delicious. The crab cakes, while not featuring lump crab meat (they leaned more towards backfin and claw), were still quite tasty. And the Smith Island cake? A rare and delightful treat, especially on a buffet! It was a perfect ending to the meal. Overall, Chesapeake Landing delivers the quintessential Maryland seafood experience. It's a bustling, lively atmosphere with a focus on fresh, classic dishes. If you're looking for a true taste of Maryland seafood, Chesapeake Landing is a must-try.

This place was recommended by several locals in St. Michaels when I was visiting today and so I decided to take their advice and try it! They said it was owned by locals and patronized by locals and I definitely prefer those type of places over the touristy places which tend to be overpriced and overrated. I definitely made a good choice when I decided to come here! I was promptly seated and waited on. My server Abbey was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the seafood platter and added a soft shell crab with it. It came with oysters, flounder, crab cake, scallops, and shrimp also. Portions were very large and I ended up taking the other half home. Everything was excellent perfectly cooked snd seasoned and fresh. Best I’ve had in a long time! Very reasonable prices. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely come again when I’m in the area.

Many menu choices. Offers Nice sized cocktails and Ice cold beer along with a variety of wines. Server was fast professional and thank you for showing me how to break open the crab quickly and efficiently. I highly reccomed the crab entree which comes in different sizes and prices. Entrees come with home made cornbread and breads. A vegetable is included.A dry rub spice(the resturant also sells it) tasted delicious on the steamed crabs. We also ordered the crab dip which didn't disappoint. The dip was filled with crab meat and served on small toasty breads. I ordered a side salad which was fresh and delicious. If you do not have room for the variety of home made desserts you may order from the case in front of the resturaunt. We took cheesecake and peanut butter pie with us. Simply delicious

Oh my...how the former wonderful has fallen! Lupe is sad to report that this formerly wonderful restaurant is now a shadow of it's former self. CHESAPEAKE LANDING was a great Family seafood and meat dining experience with the best homemade food. Now it tastes like mediocre food served fresh from anumber 10 Sysco cans, heated and served...no flavor, spices, or anything like the original down home Eastern Shore of MD restaurant it was. The crab Cakes which were great? meh. Lobster Dinners? The poor things have zero flavor and taste as though they were steamed in some broken down Sauna and then MICROWAVED! Lupe could go on. and now the previously deliscious and generous portioned Deserts are now embarassingly small and just overpriced for the current quality. Service is usually good....depending on the MOOD of your Server. Service can be spotty. The carry out counter Servers are usually good, especially a young lady named Rianna(!). She knows what she's doing and does it well and is an asset! HOWEVER...it has a wonderful carryout Seafood counter with a nice variety of Fish, Scallops, Shrimp, Clams, and unquestionably the BEST in season Fresh OYSTERS and STEAMED CRABS (or you may get them uncooked and do it yourself). Now these are also expensive but the Quality is definitely worth it! CHESAPEAKE LANDING does an amazing Fresh Seafood carry out business ...for a good reason! Lupe and the Sargeant always carry out and Lupe prepares and is a divine cook! Word of advice? Get your Fresh Lobster steamed to order at GIANT in Easton. You always get the SIZE and freshness you order (which has definitely NOT happend at CL. Please owners...you had/have a very successful restaurant and are still usually packed and busy but that will change if you do not make the effort to make it genuinely Eastern Shore Home Made and COOKED Dining! Please start caring again and take it back!!!

UPDATE 8 SEPTEMBER 2023!!! woooops. I said in my above Review how Great the Seafood Carryout is! Well, my precious Seafood lovers that too changeD 2 nights ago. On the way home the Colonel and Lupe decided to stop for Fresh Crabmeat....and it was amazing! HOWEVER...Lupe also got a 1/2 lb container of their SHRIMP SALAD!!! When I OPENED and TASTED I was hit by the smell of Chlorine! Well, Lupe has had some chlorinated Shrimp before. but unfortunately Lupe was so hungry she made a sandwich...MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE! And Lupe has suffered that several time in her Culinary Experiences! Not pretty! Then Lupe used that wonderful Google thingy and asked about "Shrimp that smells like CHLORINE"...

"Ammonia like smell in shrimp means that the shrimp in question had not been fresh and the protein in shrimp had undergone putrefaction, a process by which the protein of the shrimp is broken down into amines by bacteri"

SHAME ON YOU CHESAPEAKE LANDING!!!! SHAME FOR MAKING A BUCK OFF OF ROTTEN SEAFOOD! in the words of the Colonel..."SHAPE UP"! the Talbot County Board of Health does not cotton to old rotten food. Neither does...

My fiancée n I came for the oyster buffet and im gunna be honest is was just okay… so let start from our arrival , After the hostess greeted us we were asked if we had reservations and we did not as we are not from st Michael’s and so she asked our names and put us on a 15 mins waiting list and this would have been fine but table that she sat us at had been ready prior to arrival, after we were seated we waited about 10 mins for our waitress to finally come to our table she did not tell us her name she simply asked if a waiter had come over to us yet “we replied no “and she said have you had time to look at the menu and we replied yes we would like the buffet and asked her how is the fried chicken was she said pretty good but takes 45 mins to cook we said ok we like that as well so at this time she says go ahead and help ur self to the buffet ( has yet to ask us what we wanted for our drinks) we got half way thru our first plate and she comes back and says do you guys want some steamed oysters we said yes and did I forget to get your drink we said yes try give her benefit of the doubt maybe she was over worked (as she appears to be a little older that the rest of the girls working) so after we get those things we don’t see her again till it was time to leave Leaving our drinks empty after she’s walked by several times for others…. By this time we were done our food and food is okay as I said except the chicken was very rubbery.. she bring us the check and normal you leave it on the table after you sign and go about ur night noooo this waitress literally stood over me while I wrote out the tip amount and waited till I handed it back to her made me feel very uncomfortable so needless to say I do not think I’ll be back food was okay but for the area I thought it would be better than that and...

First time eating at Chesapeake Landing. Group of 3 adults, 1 pre-teen. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was very nice and comfortable. We went early on Sunday afternoon, so there was virtually no crowd when we arrived. We were greeted friendly and seated immediately. Our server was polite, but seemed less than enthusiastic. She answered any questions that we had directly, but didn't take the time to volunteer any information or to explain anything beyond what we asked. We overheard the server at the next table and she was fantastic. When she found out that it was her guests first time there, She took the time to explain the menu options, gave recommendations and checked on them throughout the meal. Our server checked on us once, but it was so long after we began eating that we were virtually done with the meal.

The food quality was rather disappointing. Our appetizer of Crabmeat Potato Skins was subpar at best. Dried out and overcooked as if they were prepared for someone else earlier, then reheated (overcooking them and drying them out) and served to us. We didn't bother to finish then as none of us were satisfied with them. The bread that was initially brought to the table was cold. We asked another server if that was intentional and she said that it wasn't and brought us more bread. The cornbread was rather delicious so we were all glad for the warmed up bread. 2 out of 4 of the entrees were satisfactory (1 being the kids meal). The other 2 entrees were uninspiring at best and not something that we would order again.

As we were leaving, we observed that the restaurant was beginning to get busier. It's apparent that it's a popular spot, but for our individual and collective tastes, the whole experience...
