Howie's Corner Bar & Grill — Restaurant in St. Stephen

So my wife and I went there Saturday night. Restaurant was probably 1/2 capacity. We sat down for dinner at a table right by the bar. No service for 7 minutes. The waitress was behind the bar washing glasses every now and then. It took the bartender that long after we came in to finally tell her we had not been helped out at all. She came over brought us a water and a beer and left. No I’m sorry no thanks no do you want menus. Poor poor service. From what I was just told you have to be a regular there to get good service. I could have been a regular customer if we could have just had some service. Best thing about this night it forced us to go across the street to Trobecs. And how great it was. A gentleman 3 times the age of the server at Howies greeted us took our drink order brought us menus and thanked us for coming in. The food was great and the service at Trobecs...

2nd time coming here and not impressed. We unfortunately had a very clueless and inattentive waitress. Took her like 25 mins to even take our order. And just seemed so clueless, she was like do you want to order food, umm yes that's why we are here. It took so long to get our food I wanted to leave and go to another place. It was a 1 hour and 4 minutes before we got our food, had to ask for refills on drinks. She spent most of her talking to a table of clearly her friends. It was pretty bad and she wasn't cleaning any tables so I went and picked up a table next to us and pushed in the chairs. We had to ask the bartender for a to go box and the bill. Just a pretty lack luster experience and nothing spectacular about the food...

I make it a point to come here and get the howie's special burger every visit from cali. It's usually the best bar burger you can get, but on my last trip, just eh. Apparently they've reduced from 2 patties down to 1, and on our last visit, the fries, I thought maybe they accidentally gave us sweet potato fries, but they were just that burned.

Also, last time our apps were never given, had to ask for a refund.

Anyways, decent little spot, but my annual tradition of coming here when I'm back for a visit is over...
