Discovered this gem a few days ago, and think it may well be my new go-to diner. It's a small space, so depending on the day, and the other diners, you may have to wait, but I promise it's worth it. Prices are on-par with, or slightly lower than, the average for Stamford. Excellent service, with friendly, and attentive staff. The food is cooked perfectly, and the portions are on point; you don't look at your food and immediately wonder whether you'll need to order a side or start planning your next meal to compensate like you would at other establishments in the area.... and there's the donuts... Their "donuts will make you go nuts." They're easily the best cinnamon sugar donuts in the city. Treat yourself and get one... or two.... or get them as French Toast, even. I saw Donut French Toast with Nutella and Banana on a chalkboard menu above the counter (where you'll find their seasonal specials) and had to try it. Unfortunately, it was good enough to effectively ruin French Toast for me anywhere else. Great omelettes, which come with properly cooked (and seasoned) potatoes. They have candy, and coin-operated gumball and toy dispensers by the register too. Cash only, and no ATM on site. Enjoy!

I had an okay experience at Lakeside Diner. To start with the good, it was a cute diner with a very vintage design and a perfect view of the lake. The staff was also very friendly. However, parts of my meal were just okay. My family and I ordered the Lakeside Special, which comes with one piece of French toast. Unfortunately, it was a very small, soggy piece of bread that left us disappointed. The bacon and home fries were fine. I also ordered a stack of pancakes, which were also fine but just not exactly to my taste; I'm sure other people would enjoy them more. The diner was full when we arrived and placed our order, but it did die down quickly. However, it took a long time for our food to be ready compared to other diners I have visited. THIS IS A CASH ONLY DINER. There is an ATM nearby, but there should be more signs or advertisements to let customers know since many people no longer carry that much cash. There is a lot of history to this diner, and I'm sure the quality was amazing years back, but it seems to have declined a bit over the years. I would like to give this diner another chance, but it is not my top choice.

After hearing about this place from several people, all of them saying how good the donuts were, it was time to check this place out. Unfortunately, by time we arrived they were out of donuts, and there would be no more. I ordered the Lakeside Special, which came with 2 eggs (I went with over medium), french toast, home fries, toast, and your choice of bacon or sausage. I thought it was very good, and reasonably priced (this was $8.95) I wish I would have done a bit more research though, because it turns out this place is cash only. There was no obvious sign inside that I could see that stated this, but was informed by the server that it was cash or check only, and that there was an ATM at the bank nextdoor. I mean really, it's 2019 and you're located in a city. Why can't we accept cards...? Square/Clover/etc make it super easy for any business to accept cards. Luckily we had some cash with us. Overall, I was pleased. The food was good. And everyone keeps talking about the donuts so I'll have to visit earlier in the day next time.

Not sure if it was just me but towards the end of my meal breakfast I had to rush to the restroom something I ate for breakfast here did not suit me well was in restroom for a while finally got out went home and as soon as I got home had to rush to the restroom again with diarrhea I got out of the restroom and in less than 5 minutes I had to go again with strong stomach pains and cramps and very loose stool not sure if it was some kind of food poisoning my digestion has been great before I went there so not sure from what I ate for breakfast upset it my stomach again hoping it was an isolated incident and that no one else has had the same issue. Also I was there with family visiting from out of state who are on vacation and while we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive one of my relatives went in and asked for a cup of coffee that he wanted to bring outside while we waited for the rest of the crowd the lady there not sure if the owner or the manager looked at him and said sit down and I'll bring you a cup of coffee my relative said I do not want to sit down yet I just want a cup of coffee while the rest of the party gets here and the woman was a bit rude to him finally someone else came and said sure I'll bring you a cup of coffee and he was able to bring it outside he even said that he will pay double for the cup of coffee he just wanted one right there at that moment so sometimes yes customer service is not the greatest and some people there are not that friendly with customers however The Waitresses are very friendly and work very hard to please you in your orders I think the issue is more with the manager or owner. The place is very small and very uncomfortable to eat on those small tables especially if large group gathers to eat there the atmosphere outside is wonderful and beautiful to take pictures by the...

I would like to share my experience at this little dive diner by the lake. While it offers great views, the food is only so-so, and we usually visit when we feel like doing something different. For better diner fare, we have another go-to spot.

This past weekend, we went with some friends and encountered a frustrating situation. When we arrived, we noticed two parties ahead of us—one party of two and another of four. After about 20 minutes, both of those parties were seated, and a group of five arrived behind us. When the next table became available, the woman in charge, a blonde with a bob, directed the group behind us to take the table. We were confused but let it slide, thinking maybe they were regulars.

Another 10 minutes passed, and when the next table opened up, the same thing happened again. I wondered if they only had one table for five, so I asked the blonde woman about it. She assured me that every table could accommodate our party size and said it was just a matter of our patience to wait. At that point, it became clear we were being skipped over. The first thing pop-in to my mind was that I was the only non-white person in the whole place.

We decided to stay, as the crowd was thinning and we had a small child with us, making it difficult to leave. When the waitress called out again for the next party, I shouted, “Party of five, four chairs and a high chair.” The blonde woman turned around and yelled at me, claiming, “That is what I said; you were not listening.”

On the positive side, the waitstaff were generally nice, and we left a decent tip. However, I won’t be returning. I feel it’s important to warn others that you might experience differential treatment for whatever reason. If you visit, be prepared for a long wait and know that your experience may not match those of...

A lady who ordered her food for pickup came in and complained that they only take cash and they should have it posted somewhere if that is their policy. The waitress had a snarky answer prepared of "well we don't advertise that we take credit cards either." Then when the customer left the two waitresses laughed it off like they thought her complaint wasn't valid. Like it's not 2018 and people don't have an expectation that they can use their credit card in a restaurant. That was kind of the customer service experience that I saw while I was there. I sat at the bar right next to the register and no one even once came by to ask me how my food was or if I needed anything and actually I did want a water but no one came and asked. I did get a couple times waitresses looked at me but none bothered to come over and ask if I needed anything. When I finally got my check I told them I agreed with the lady about putting up a poster if you only take cash. I had also planned to use my card but luckily had enough cash. It seems that this is a complaint they've heard before by the way they had an answer all ready to go so you would think instead of practicing an answer to that customer complaint they would just put up a poster. But I guess that's too much work for them. Anyway, I had an omelette and it was good. But I'm pretty sure they charged me 75 cents for whipped cream on my hot chocolate....
