Dan's — Restaurant in Standish

Granted the food is usually good. Dan makes a great breakfast sandwich and awesome French toast. However, my good friend went in one time to order food and while she was there she looked around at the random items Dan sells. She noticed little flashlights for sale and bought one to help her at her new job. Well, the flashlight didn't function. She even bought a new battery but it still didn't work. So, she went back in to speak to Dan. He treated her horribly! As she explained it ... She told Dan that she just bought the flashlight the previous night, it didn't work, and asked if he'd exchange it. Well, he wouldn't even look at her at first and pretended he didn't know what she was talking about. He asked if she bought it there to which she said of course. He said he didn't think he sold them. So, she pointed to the area right across from him to show him that he does sell them. And I mean, seriously, WHO would take an item back to some random store that they didn't know sold the item!? Once he saw that he does indeed sell them he basically treated her as if she had gone into the store and stole the flashlight while Dan and none of the other 6 customers were looking and was trying to get out the door with a free flashlight. He continued to question her in a very ugly manner. He claimed he didn't even know the price but the day before he sure knew what to have the cashier charge my friend.

She also said the other customers looked embarrassed and shocked at the way Dan was speaking to her. Even the cashier that rang her up the night before looked appalled by Dan's behavior. My friend finally had enough and just left the useless flashlight behind.

He lost a good customer! I'm sorry, make that several good customers because she and her housemates use to order breakfast several times a week and now they won't stop in for anything. That includes myself and my family.

Horrible way to treat someone. Do so much better...

Food is excellent!! However, I ordered a breakfast sandwich that was absolutely gross. The muffins weren't toasted and moreover they were so soggy & wet from grease or actually I'm not sure what that I couldn't even deconstruct the sandwich to try & toast them myself. It was cold as ice to boot. Granted we called late in the day & had 4 breakfast orders but when you serve breakfast all day you ought to be able to make more than one order correctly. I don't mean to be rude but I had nothing in the house to eat so that's why we ordered out. But overall the food is very good and the other 3 orders were fine. I was the only disappointed one. Will definitely give them...

The food, people, and vibe was absolutely phenomenal. Very pleasant business owners who cooked us some of the best sandwiches in Maine. We ordered two steak subs, a BLT, and large onion ring. The steak sub was delicious, with the perfect amount of cheese and mayo. The BLT was great as well; fresh and crisp. The onion rings were the real star in my opinion. They were the perfect consistency and even had a unique taste to them. Almost as if they were beer battered. 10/10, our new favorite...
