On our recent return trip from Marshfield to the Twin Cities, hubby, our daughter, and I decided to grab a bite to eat in Stanley on a whim. I did a cursory search for top restaurants in the area, and Martino's came up as a hot dining spot.
For the appetizer, we ordered cheese "fries"--buttery, garlicky cheese-bread sticks with marinara sauce. Now, I generally ignore the marinara dip, but this sauce was better than most.
For our mains, we ordered the Martino's House Special on thin crust and Chicken Bacon Ranch on original crust. Both were delicious, but the former definitely stole the show!
My daughter and husband have "dessert compartments" in their stomachs that remain empty when they are otherwise full. Hence, each ordered gelato, which, from my understanding, is made in-house. Daughter chose caramel and hubby chose pistachio. I was particularly interested in sampling the latter, but the former was better--creamy with a good balance of sweet and salty.
The service was spectacular. If there was a separate rating for that, our waitress earned 5/5 🌟 s. Also, the eating area and bathrooms were spic and span.
Whether you're a resident, visitor, or passersby hankering for a bite to eat, I highly recommend...
Read moreWe found this place looking for a nice Italian restaurant on Maps. We came even though it was a little out of our way because it was highly rated.
We came in and it was small but nice. We were greeted by Katie, one of the waitresses, and she led us to a booth. She was very friendly and stopped at just the right times to get our refills and finished dishes. Props to her for good service!
In total, my buddies and I ordered bread sticks, cheese curds, and fried ravioli for appetizers and shrimp & chicken Alfredo and 2 Ron's Calzones for entrees.
The appetizers came out quickly and they were delicious. The bread sticks were soft, the curds were melty but spongy, and the ravioli were incredible.
We didn't have to wait long for our entrees either. The Alfredo dishes came out just before the Calzones. We both got two half orders and they looked wonderful. The Alfredo was topped with a layer of cheese which added to the creamy texture of the dish. And the Calzones were great too. They were big and filled well. We were more than filled up and took some to go.
This restaurant is amazing for the price and the portions are nice and big. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through Wisconsin, you won't be...
Read moreI dunno....I was pumped to have dinner here and I left wondering why.
Ordered cheese curds. Got a plate with a scant amount of TINY curds. Shrugged it off, until the table directly behind us got theirs. Full plate of nice, plump curds they had.
No Busch Light..... Like, REALLY??!! You do realize where we are, correct?? Latte's are #1! Sheesh!
They have a salad bar??!! I had NO CLUE, until someone from a "foodies" page mentioned it.
Service was lame.
Pizza was raw. Like, the dough was stringy and simply undercooked. Gross Especially with the influx of salmonella caused by eating raw flour 😳
I left disappointed.
I really had high hopes.
I'm not sure what the deal is. We go to all these places that are "highly" recommended and we leave wondering how the hell anyone could perceive what just...
