Farmers Cafe — Restaurant in Stanwood

This place took us by surprise. We expected a greasy spoon type place and found a gem. You start your experience by being greeted by their professional and happy staff where you are whisked away to a clean booth/table. As you take in the sights you realize you are in an old McDonald's, but that is where the comparison ends. The menu has something for everyone, but the one thing that stands out...where you expect to find pre-mixed ingredients like in their gravies, mashed potatoes, corned beef hash....you would be dead wrong. Their gravy is completely home made, as is their salsa. Sysco isn't make a dime from these folks. Their eggs are obviously farm fresh and haven't been checking out the inside of a fridge for weeks. Their beef is clearly locally procured. And let's talk about their corned beef hash....it's legit! There are no shortcuts here and the locals clearly love it. What stood out to us is that they cater to all the locals tastes, from the traditional American fare to that from south of the border. They clearly understand that their community is filled with hard working dedicated individuals from all over It may be a bit of a drive from Marysville, but we will keep coming back time...

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Ordered the top sirloin and shrimp. After several minutes of watching my waitress hanging out at the counter I had to flag the hostess to get my waitress to bring me my salad, the blue cheese dressing was nasty tasting. When I got my meal my steak was very tough and overcooked. The waitress asked if I wanted a new meal I said that would be great. My meal came and it was just the steak by that time my entire meal was cold and the steak was only slightly better after a couple bits I left my entire meal.It is simply not possible that they use prime meat like indicated in the menu. My brother works at a butcher shop in Tacoma and I’ve had every cut of prime meat that is available including top sirloin and the difference between prime and what I got was night and day. I left my entire meal and left hungry. I went next door to McDonald’s and got a Big Mac meal for $12 and was happy. I’m going to slap my friends who told me this place was really good. Maybe it is under new ownership or something. Doubtful I will be back unless someone...

I ordered the avocado melt and it was great. The side was the clam chowder, fresh made and piping hot! Not too much potato, chunks of clam, it was delicious. I didn't realize they were short staffed until the server stated to the next table over that they had no busser to clear the tables, apologizing as she clears the dishes. The next table then insisted the busy server take the final plate about 1 minute after she walked away, if that, and did so rudely. The server said she would be there in a moment, and was there within 5 seconds. The table then spoke I'll of the server amongst themselves and the server maintained her professionalism as she prioritized them in order to meet their demands. I'm sorry to our server who was the lady having to deal with this in the lunch rush. You didn't deserve that rudeness and are amazing. I was a server for a long time and would recommend you to everyone. To the ladies at the next table over. Wisdom chases you.
