First off, we have been wanting to come here for years….. My wife and I came up for our anniversary to have some ā€œ1st’sā€ā€¦ so we got a hotel, and decided this is where we would go for our 1 year. Bad move. We walked in and it was packed full. The hostess’s seemed beyond overwhelmed (seating still available) to the point that someone came behind the bar to put our names in, which instead, out the people who walked in after us first, then us… We did eventually get sat first after 4 times being explained by the couple behind us that we were actually first. Then we get sat with Jain, who is very nice. But Jain could should not of been there helping as it seemed to go downhill from the first time she informed us she had hot food waiting and would be back, each time she came to take our drink order. My wife asked for an iced tea, and she recommended a white wine, my wife being the sweetheart that she is accepted….. Then after what seemed like confusing questions about the menu, like, how many shrimp come on a plate, we finally settled on the fish fry. With that said, we have been there 35 minutes sitting already. A nice family comes and sits down next to us after that table was bussed to clear off the previous families food, and they ordered drinks and their food (same thing we ordered, Fish Fry)…. This is 10 minutes after we ordered our food. Their food arrives about 10 minutes later, we are still waiting. FINALLY our food comes out 10 minutes after that, and it’s cold. They were nice enough to bring us more fish, which came out hot, 2 minutes later…… The food, is nothing high to speak about. The fried mushrooms were bland, the calamari was rubber, the fish was ok….. If you added a handful of salt to it, and cold lol…. But for roughly $80, this was by far not worth the time or the $$$ they charge. We didn’t stick around for dessert… Oh, and we had to ask another server to get our check as we patiently waited 20 minutes for Jain to come back to our table, and we never saw her again. Also, you may want to ask about other food besides what is on the menu, as some tables had items we could not find anywhere on the menu given to us.

I have lived on the mountain since 94. Sadly I only made it to here once resonantly. It is by far one of the best places I have ever been too. The prices are intimidating but worth every penny. My mother and I ordered scalps, Ribeye, drinks, and zucchini for under 100 bucks. We could not eat all of it (and we are not small people and it was the only meal of the day after traveling down to PHX) The meal came with fresh veggies, fresh bread, salad or soup and a side. The food was cooked perfectly not over done, dried out or rubbery. The salad could have been a bit better, it was plain but they more than made up for it with the dressing options. It has been a long time since we could find someone KNOWS how to cook. It has been even longer since we have seen customer service. Our waitress was perfect, not over chatty or intrusive and made sure our meal was satisfactory and did not let the plates pile up and water was full. The atmosphere was pleasant and peaceful no over bearing music, have that old time feel. Shockingly with it being next to the road one could not hear the cars at all. It was clean and a rarity on its own. We even saw peacocks outside. This is a lost gem to this ever growing fast paced world. If you ever get the chance to make to them it is well worth the drive for the best food I have had in years.

After a long hike and a drive up into the mountains, I was craving a steak. Lisa, my server, mentioned the rib special, and I bit. šŸ˜‰ Atmosphere: 5/5 – Small-town, romantic candlelit vibe with soft country music that’s easy on the ears. Service: Spectacular—my drinks were refilled numerous times. A large rock-face firewall adds to the cozy dining lobby. The ribs? Delicious and packed with flavor—no dipping sauce needed. The ā€˜bark’/crust on the ribs was perfection. They were incredibly tender, falling right off the bone. The value for what I paid $20 versus what I received was exceptional. The free bread was warm freshly made and so good I had to stop myself from filling up on it. Parking? No issues—plenty of space. Bathrooms? Small and quaint, like something out of a cabin in the woods. The coffeeā˜•ļø? Amazing—I had numerous cups, thanks to Lisa. šŸ˜‡ I’ll be back to try that steak soon!

Went for dinner July 4th 2022 weekend after a camping trip. Not a great experience. Took forever to have our order taken. The prices were steep but we were hungry so went ahead and ordered. I ordered ribs, they came out by themselves, just a small overpriced rack on a large plate, nothing else. We all ordered baked potatoes that didn't come out for another 20 minutes. I was under the impression we got 2 sides, waitress didn't make that clear, and for the prices of the plates, it should've included 2 or 3 sides. The ribs were dry and subpar. My friend ordered the scallops that came out the size of a quarter swimming in grease and not good. My husband got the seafood platter which was also swimming in oil. Both seafood portions were extremely small, half the seafood platter was inedible. Our waitress was inattentive and neglectful at best. My friend asked to speak to a manager. After waiting for 20 mins for her to come out, we noticed the chef come out staring us down and shaking his head, more than once. Once the manager did come out, my friend asked her to sit with us and proceeded to show her the state of the very wobbly table we were sitting at. (Decor looks like it was left over from Christmas one year in the 80s). We let the manager know the issues we were having. She laughed and brushed it all off, informing us they ran out of potatoes? So instead of telling us or offering something else you let us eat our entrees (or what we could) while waiting 20 more minutes for potatoes? The only thing remotely good about the whole dinner) I left out of frustration and hunger and knowing our bill was about to be well over $100 and we were all still hungry and after the experience, irritated. I looked this place up after the experience to find it was opened by a couple in the 60s. It is located in such a beautiful area and was probably highly successful in its hay day. I felt actually sorry for the couple that opened it and thinking what they'd think of the state it's come to now. Maybe you all could use Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue or something. The environment and employees scream complacency. I would give them another chance if anything changes. We're not ones to generally call a manager over but felt the situations needed to be addressed on this one. The only reason I am not giving a 1 or 2 star rating is because of its location and the fact there were alot of people in there, alot of people who likely had similar experiences and may not be back. We watched several tables around us waiting as long as we did just to order drinks. Wish you all luck...

I am so sorry to write this review. I don't like to be critical or put down a business. Our family went there to have a wonderful dinner after an incredible day. We have been excited to try this place as we have driven past many times. It started with a server saying she was going to seat us and the manager telling her that we have to wait and she needs to clear tables. We then waited 15 minutes to be seated. After we were seated a full 30+ minutes went by before someone asked if we had a server. Ten minutes after that the waitress took our drink order. The drinks were not good at all. My bloody mary was dark brown and tasted like Worcester and little else. My daughter's drink was made with vodka instead of tequila. The waitress said "really", but did nothing about it. I had the seafood platter, but the sauce which was supposed to be garlic, butter, and white wine tasted like vinegar. The two deep fried shrimp were missing and one of the scallops. The waitress asked if I wanted it. Hello, yes. That is what was on the menu and being charged for! My husband's lamb were no bigger than a tablespoon. Where was the food? The other two with us were very disappointed in the dryness of their meats. After the meal, my husband was signing the check. The manager came up and stood at our table. We did not call him over. My husband started to talk to him and he started yelling that the restaurant was in business 62 years and walked away. I got up and was walking out to leave. That same man came up to me and said, " Did you notice how full the parking lot was? 62 years of Business." I replied calmly that all my husband was saying was about our experience. He yelled at me to get out. Never did we raise our voices, but he felt the need to embarrass and yell at us in front of others. That and the poor food and service are why I felt compelled to write this review. Such a disappointing end to a...
