Honest review of first visit. Sunday 4:30-5:00 pm. Seated immediately with a few other parties dining. Our server, Yosselin, was probably the best part of the entire experience. Hushpuppies and drinks arrived promptly. The tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, and even the ketchup all seemed to be watered down. Very thin and runny. Placing orders was a positive experience as Yosselin clarified any and every option. The flounder was above average. The slaw was perfect to allow you to make to yours. I added salt, pepper, and vinegar. The Kots fries were good and a bit more malt vinegar made them even better. The large oyster/scallop combo arrived with 6 scallops and 6 shrimp. The discrepancy wasn't noticed until the server had already left. When I was able to point out the issue, once again, Yosselin was quick to take responsibility (even though she verified she had correctly recorded what I had ordered). After she brought the missing oysters, I couldn't help but notice there were only 5 (recall the scallops and shrimp were 6 count). At the end of the meal, Yosselin asked how everything was and I said the only issue was the oyster count was short by comparison to the scallops and shrimp. She insisted on making a correction and returned with the check showing a $3 deduction. She gets 5 stars. Overall: the food is worth a repeat. The service was spot on. The price point was reasonable. And next time, we'll see if the desserts taste as good as they look. One disturbing observation: During the meal, 3 different people appeared in the dining room, at different times, wearing aprons and no hair nets. If you want to elevate your atmosphere, keep the dirty aprons in the kitchen. And I could not find any response from management on the 1 star reviews, but they give glowing appreciation on the 4-5 star reviews. If you can't respond to the disappointed customers that describe...
Read moreKing of the Sea was one of the best seafood restaurants I have eaten at recently. I ordered popcorn shrimp with onion rings and slaw. Normally, at other seafood restaurants, the food is cold and dripping in grease, but here, the meal was hot, fresh, and not greasy at all. Our server was Rebecca. She was excellent. I told her that this was my first time dining at King of the Sea, and she informed me that she would see that we had a good dining experience and that she would even add an extra helping of love. She was fantastic. She checked on us several times to see if we needed anything, and she was very fast and efficient. One could tell that she is definitely a people person. Normally, I do not order dessert, but I had to have a piece of the chocolate cake with the chocolate icing. When Rebecca brought it to our table, there was a piece of cake large enough to feed 4 people. It was well worth the $5.99 it cost. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also good. The only negative item I have to mention is that the music was a little loud, but I could live with that. This was a fabulous dining experience, and I will return. Thank all of you for this...
Read moreWorst seafood I've ever had in my life! My mother and I wanted to enjoy a Sunday afternoon meal while we spent time together. So we tried this restaurant. First off when I called to order the person taking the order acted like they didn't want to take the time to listen to my questions or help me with my type of order I wanted. When I finally picked it up at the restaurant, and they told me the price, I could not believe the total! Way more than what the menu online says. A whole lot more! Then when I got the food home and my mother and I opened it up and looked at it we couldn't believe it. I had two flimsy little pieces of fried perch. If that's what you want to call it. Hardly enough to feed a child. The fried oysters were rubbery and greasy and horrible! The only thing good about the whole plate was the baked potatoes and coleslaw. The fish, shrimp, and fried oysters, including the hush puppies, we're the worst I have ever tasted. Will definitely never come back. And for the sake of anybody else that wants to risk ordering here, at least make the menu that's advertised on your site match what you are actually charging people for this...
