Phifer's Hot Wings & Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Statesville

Horrible drive thru experience today! I called my order in at 6:02pm and I arrived at 6:22 to pick up my order. Well I sat in the drive thru 10 mins before anyone even came to the window to take my payment and once the blonde haired girl came and asked the name my order was under, she appeared to not realize that I had a call in order and asked what I had after I gave her the name the order was under. After about another 10 mins or so I called their number and asked what was going on with my order? The same girl said that they've been busy and that "she" I guess meaning the cook was working on it. I sat in drive thur still waiting and finally when she came back to the window I asked was my order not placed when I called at 6:02? The blonde haired girl at the window became very nasty and said that they had other orders and that they were busy, mind you there were only about 3 cars in the parking lot, and as I was inquiring about my order she slammed the window shut and walked off! Absolutely unacceptable to treat customers that way! Most places would've been apologetic or even offered something for the long wait resulting from apparently the fact that my order was never given...

I My boyfriend and I have been eyeing this place for a while, we pass it all the time and we finally decided to stop in. They were temporarily unable to sell chopped bbq, which was disappointing at first because that's what we had in mind, but the disappointment QUICKLY went away because the food we ordered instead was phenomenal! He ordered the hot wings and cole slaw, both of which were incredible. The hot sauce could be a tad hotter but the flavor is on point! I ordered the boneless chicken strips and spicy fries, and I swear those were hands down the best chicken strips I've ever eaten. The breading wasn't overloaded with spices, just enough to make it perfect. Crispy but not too crispy. Chicken was juicy. Fries cooked perfectly. And i got a side of the wing sauce for my food and it is just so absolutely good with anything i swear. I'm so glad we tried this place, we will definitely be back to try the BBQ. The chicken tasted extremely greasy and old, as if it had been cooked and left to sit for a couple hours. Portions of the chicken were so dried out they were not edible, even soaked in their bbq sauce. The side dishes were better than the chicken, but not by much, though the thin spicy vinegar-based bbq sauce was good.

The food was about equivalent to a Wal-Mart or grocery store hot deli bar chicken dinner, but for double the price. Even more than the mediocre food, the place was not clean at all, like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a very long while.

The restrooms were absolutely disgusting, with a sink that had built up layers of blackish/greyish grime like an old, uncleaned bathtub. The toilet, and even the walls, were in even worse shape. I definitely will not be returning to this place again, especially when factoring in the price and the...
