Looking for a place where you can bring a group for good food at an actually affordable price? Weidele's is your place, tho it's way off the beaten path -- the ultimate hidden gem! Seven of us ended up here after a nearby horse show in the CT countryside, thanks to one family member who frequents it. We discovered excellent pizza (the best white pizza I've had in ages, with lots of fresh garlic and feta, cheddar and mozzarella) and homey specials we don't often see in our trendy Newport home: stuffed peppers and stuffed cabbage (both excellent, tho my husband wanted me to recommend an additional wrap of cabbage). Also available: lots of grinders, pasta, calzones and fried seafood. The whole staff is kind and funny, serving up a yummy complimentary dough boy to celebrate when our 10-year-old granddaughter came in wearing all the ribbons she'd won at the show (and it was her birthday!). The cherry on top: The wine list has labels you've heard of starting at $6 a glass. Our entire bill was just over $100 (tho it was an early dinner and we didn't order alcohol. Next time: wine!) Kudos to this...
Read moreI love this place.. I go there 4 times a month if not more! My waist line may not like it, but it's my mouths guilty pleasure!! -My favorite is a small salami pizza (which is not on the menu. But they make it for me anyways, thanks guys), and my mother loves the Chef salad (it's huge, with tons of toppings and veggies, my mother loves adding hard boiled eggs to it and banana peppers... Then to top it all off, they add a ton of the best feta cheese I've ever eaten in my life)... The atmosphere is great, the owners are very personable and great to chat with!! Id give them 10 stars if I could.. Keep up the great work guys, I'll be seeing you soon... Kelley Kane PS. I did here that the cute young cook in the back is single!! ...
Read moreI've tried many pizza palors for the best Hawaiian pizza but sadly, most were a fail as they leave out one of the most important ingredients, which honestly? makes the pizza so delicious...maraschino cherries. Weidel's makes the best Hawaiian pizza I have ever eaten. I use to order it lightly sauced, extra cherries which they would slice in half and brick oven cooked just a tad bit longer than normal. It was simply a delight for the taste buds! I have since moved to the Midwest so Weidel's pizza is now off my chosen menu options but I haven't given up hoping that one day I may stumble upon a pizza restaurant that can compare to Weidel's...
