We took my parents here to celebrate their upcoming retirements and it was fantastic. My mom made a reservation online, which was quick and easy to navigate. My kids (5 & 8) loved this place! We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer, and they came out quickly and were oh so delicious! There was a lengthy menu from the bar, including several beers on tap. My kids ordered individual pizzas, which they thoroughly enjoyed. My oldest and my mom went to see the pizzas be made and baked, so that was pretty cool to see. The pizzas came out a little earlier than the rest of the tables', but that was just fine as the kids were starving. Everyone ordered something different, and everyone was happy with their meal. The chef changes the menu often to take advantage of seasonal produce. I ordered a pomegranate winter salad with roasted winter squash, beets, candied pecans and blue cheese. I added chicken and it was served with a balsamic vinaigrette on the side. It was just so fresh and wonderful! I also ordered a cup of the soup of the day, which came out after the appetizer (good timing). It was a big dinner salad, so I'll have enough for lunch tomorrow. The restaurant and the outside areas (including the hallway to it) were decorated very tastefully for the holiday season. There was a great fire going, and many comfortable chairs and couches. It has a rustic chic vibe, with great local history pieces that connect to local culture. We'll be...
Read moreThere is no sign outside to show you where it is but it is next to the inn. The first time I went here was for my husband's Christmas party for work and everything was perfect. The food, service, atmosphere, drinks. Couldn't ask for anything better. The second time was still great but I decided to explore their menu more and the atmosphere was much different. The flash fried brussels were just amazing, I honestly couldn't stop eating them. My husband doesn't even like brussel sprouts and liked them. Their cheese curds are always spot on, so very lightly breaded and crispy with two dipping options. We both had the Hanger steak that comes with fries, a watercress salad topping, and a borderlaise sansthe mushrooms. I ordered mine medium well and received it medium rare. My husband ordered medium rare and his was the same temp and color as mine. HOWEVER, the peppery sear on the steak was perfect. There was extraordinary loud music playing outside, I believe there may have been an event going on so it was extremely loud in the restaurant, but I know it isn't always like that and it is beautiful inside. There is also outside dining available. A heads up for fellow disabled friends, if you are making a reservation let them know the type of table you would like ahead of time. There are only 2 or 3 booths I believe and they are not full booths. The chairs are hard and lean back at an angle so they are not back friendly, bring your...
Read moreThis is an edited review. I've been here twice in the last year, the second time being yesterday on my birthday. We won't be back again. The service was slow and it wasnt very busy. My husband ordered the "wild treats" burger medium and received it well done. I ordered off the menu column titled "hearty plates" the salmon dish. It was to have mashed potatoes, crispy root vegetables and a blueberry chutney. The dish arrived without the sauce and the portion was quite small. The salmon fillet was 3 ounces at best, on top of a small scoop of mashed potatoes topped with some crispy vegetable strings. The waitress did check on us a minute or so after our first couple of bites. My husband noticed after she left the burger was overcooked and my salmon was missing the sauce. When she came back to check on us again we brought up the issues. She said she would take note and apologized for the issues but didn't offer any resolve. When we were finished with our meal another gal asked me how the meal was and I told her what happened. She apologized and offered me a free dessert. We waited 15 minutes for them to box it up so we could leave. $75 spent for a disappointing experience. We rarely go out to eat so this was...
