The Flying Hoof — Restaurant in Stonington

We had an incredible meal at The Flying Hoof today! What a hdden gem. I work about 20 minutes away and I asked google for the best fried chicken near me and the Flying Hoof was at the top of the list. After looking at the menu and the prices we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich, a 5-piece tender meal with mac and cheese and potato wedges, and a Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich with hot honey — and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly crispy, juicy and spiced perfrectly, the mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, and the hot honey added the perfect kick. We will definitely be back for more! WOW. Upon entering I was wondering why the restaurant was completely dead. After I got home I could see why. I was super disappointed with their food. My wings that i ordered were garlic parmesan. When I opened the box it looked like it was reheated. When I bit into the wing it was super soggy. My wings tasted like a order that wasn't picked up so it was reheated and given to me. The garlic parmesan flavor was non existent. I was told 20 minutes for my order and I was there in 22 minutes. So it wasn't like my wings was sitting for a long time. Service was nice but not quick. We brought our 14 month old and it took an hour and a half to get the food. There were 6 tables and maybe 10 takeout orders the time we waited. Working in the food industry they should be turning tables like hotcakes. There was no hustle. Food was hot. Hubby liked the Nashville chicken Sammy. Mine was too thin and over breaded. Description is “dipped in hot oil “ it was a squirt of the sauce. Very dry in my opinion. Would like to try the smash burgers and pizza.
