While my co-worker much enjoyed her experience, I have to regretfully say that I did not.
When I arrived, we were instructed to sit anywhere. Our server seemed kind and presented us with menus and asked what we'd like to drink. All typical stuff.
I ordered a Ribeye steak. For reference, the menu stated the steak was a "12oz Ribeye" and was priced at $23.99. I also ordered a side of fries and mashed potatoes. Gravy is, somehow, not standard at this establishment with mashed potatoes, but they were able to use white gravy (likely primarily intended for a different dish).
Now allow me to list the initial issues with each of the things I ordered.
STEAK No sear Overcooked (Medium to Med-Well instead of Mid-Rare, as ordered) Lack of seasoning, especially salt Uneven cook (different parts were cooked to different temperatures, somehow) Seasoned with dry rosemary leaves (this isn't a huge deal, but typically I don't like little sticks of dehydrated rosemary leaves all over my steak; they should consider basting with fresh rosemary instead of leaving on the steak) Overall massive disappointment
MASHED POTATOES & GRAVY (Potatoes) Flavorless on their own (Gravy) Gummy texture and an overwhelming taste of pepper. All I tasted was pepper (Potatoes & Gravy) I realized I asked for gravy, but what I received was more akin to a thickened gravy soup. Overall inedible thanks to the way overly-peppered gravy
FRIES Needed more salt Clearly frozen Overcooked Overall tasted good enough
Now, if it wasn't for this next thing that entirely ruined any good experience I could have had here despite the food, I wouldn't have even written this review.
The final straw was when we got the receipt. There were discrepancies between what the menu listed and what the receipt showed. While these discrepancies are, in fact, minor, I think the broader business practice of doing this at all is absolutely disgusting.
As mentioned prior, the menu read a 12oz Ribeye for $23.99; what I was charged for was a 10oz Ribeye for $24.99 (a smaller Ribeye costing more money). When I asked my server about this, she was unwilling to so much as check with a manager for a possible mistake. She seemed fully knowledgeable of the issue and simply informed me I'd have to pay it.
False advertising and manipulating/gaslighting your customer base are not habits I appreciate in any capacity. My score of 2 stars is a generous one. I will not...
Read moreMy husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened. We took my son, his wife and our granddaughter today. We really enjoyed the food and the clean atmosphere. Service was good and the food was extra yummy. We had the fried pickles, hamburgers and fries, brisket sandwich, southwest chicken salad and kids chicken tender and macaroni and cheese. I would say a must try would be the brisket sandwich and the hamburgers. Granddaughter and daughter-in-law love the mac & cheese as well. Their smoked meat was excellent. We will definitely go back maybe for the live entertainment. Prices were average to high but got lots of food. The only downfall that I saw was that it had a small amount of room and...
Read moreWhat a nice option in the middle of nowhere!! Stover is usually a drive-by town for us, but we may be stopping more often now. I had the garlic parmesan chicken with cowboy baked beans and garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken looked dry but juice actually squirted out each time I cut into it! Mashed potatoes seemed like real potatoes too (always a plus!). Servers were very attentive and checked on us often, even though they were busy. Only down side, the parking lot was packed and fairly small. When we got there we took the only open space which wasn't really a space. Look forward to stopping again! For cooler weather the patio...
