I’ve been wanting to stop by since they opened, but every time I drive by the lot is full (great for them) but it’s been a bit of a deterrent cause that area of 108 can be a bit sticky to drive. I placed my order online and it was ready for me. I picked up seamlessly on the shelf. Upon inspection there was a hair (looked more animal than human) on the croissant. I got a replacement and a half hearted apology. Yes I was asked if the other item in my box I wanted to keep (also it as there last one so…), which I did. The cruffin was delicious, filled to the brim with raspberry and cream. Worth the price. But the croissant was extremely small considering the price tag, and now the albeit accidental hair (I have a dog, I get it). I’d return for the cruffin, but there are similar micro bakeries, making similar items with a lower price range for laminated dough. The pricing is high, $6 for a cinnamon roll? Yes, as advertised high quality ingredients. Are these heirloom grains and flours? Hand creamed imported French butter? There’s some items I can’t justify the sheer pricing of. Sure, the demographic, the property prices can yield such goods and the people will pay. I just don’t fit in that demographic and I feel...
Read moreEvery time I drive by this bakery's parking 🅿️ lot is full! Formerly Sweet Dreams Bakery, the owner of Laney & Lui's new 🆕 European style bakery looks good 👍. Congratulations 🎉! Visit the website first because there is not a posted menu for drinks or food. They had food that is not listed on the menu. You can order ahead for pick up 🛻. The food is made from scratch so prepare for the prices. The cinnamon rolls are huge! I had a cranberry almond scone with a hot drip coffee ☕ which were okay 🆗. The scone was a little dry and crumbled when I was eating it. If you have a large vehicle 🚜, the parking is a little tight. I felt a little rushed when I placed my order and I wasn't asked if I wanted space for adding cream to my coffee. But the woman was pleasant. Update: August-September 2024; Jam and Butter 🧈 Vanilla Scone tasted okay 👌 but was very messy. Cafe Au Lait with steamed milk 🥛 was good 👍. Chicken 🐔 Caprese Sandwich 🥪 and the Strawberry 🍓 Rhubarb Vanilla Custard Cruffin were also good. There is seating outside. I am curious about the menu so I plan...
Read moreGinger Fox Bakery benefits from being the only game in town. Ordered a crustless quiche - taste and texture were that of scrambled eggs with mushrooms. No crust essentially means a frittata, but properly cooked, a frittata’s eggs will form its own gluten free base and sides. Butter croissant was very, very greasy and not very buttery. Texture and layers were good, but the amount of grease made it very heavy. The blueberry and pistachio financier was more of a blueberry cake (reminded me of something from a farmer’s market) and less of the traditional financier. Very heavy, very greasy, and super sugary, but had a decent blueberry flavor (could only taste pistachio if I looked for it).
Exeter and Stratham doesn’t have a great bakery akin to something like Maison Villatte in Falmouth, Ma, or Elefantine in Portsmouth, so Ginger Fox has a low bar to clear to be considered good. But I expected considerably more from the effort and marketing put into the venture by Laney and Lu...
