My wife and I were staying nearby on an extended weekend getaway for our anniversary and decided we wanted a special dinner, but had not planned ahead. We were able to make a reservation for later that day and arrived just a few minutes prior (we had to settle for lunch since they were not open for dinner any of our remaining days there). We were asked to have a seat in the lobby. About ten minutes later, it was explained to us that a storm was approaching and they were trying to get everyone on the patio inside. There appeared to be about 3-4 tables of folks to be moved, but it seemed to take a lot longer than necessary. We were finally sat about 25 minutes after our reservation time. As a nice gesture for our extended wait, the hostess offered up a free glass of wine. While she helped my wife decide on one, I was looking over the list, but the hostess walked off. It just seemed odd that she would offer my wife a complimentary glass but not me. No big deal. We had the tuna tartare for an appetizer and it was DELICIOUS! I had the brisket and it was pretty good. My wife ordered the ribeye, medium rare. When it came out, it was medium well to well. We hardly ever send food back, but this time we did. The second attempt was cooked unevenly - borderline raw on one side and closer to well on the other. Our waiter was very nice, attentive, and apologetic. He even comped my wife's desert for the ribeye mishap. When making our reservation, I was asked if there was an occasion we were celebrating and I explained it was our anniversary. Not once was that acknowledged, we were finally seated well after our reservation time, we were put at a table right in front of the kitchen doors (not the most romantic spot), and my wife's steak was messed up twice. I generally would expect more out of a fine dining establishment where we spent over...
Read moreThis review is for the restaurants lunch menu. When Morrisette built their new winery building next door, this opened up the entire original mountain top location they shared to a full service eatery. Probably a good thing as well. The place was packed on the Saturday we visited. It was a beautiful day for a mountain drive to be fair though, so this may not be the norm. The mac and cheese appetizer was Wonderful and the best my wife has ever tried. I had the blackened catfish with fries, while the wife had the skillet fried chicken sandwich with salad. Catfish was perfectly cooked and the remoulade was tangy but didn't overpower. The pickled celery should be sold at their store to take home. The potato skins were toothpick thin and crisp and a nice touch, but the wife thought they might be confused as bones because of their size and texture. I chose to trust their fish monger and didn't offer her another sample. Her chicken sandwich was crispy and had a nice sweet honey flavored sauce that flavored the bread nicely but we both thought the chicken though tasty, was a bit rubbery. Her salad was crisp and the dressing was very nice. Can't wait to return and try more of their menu, which I understand changes regularly. Go and enjoy. Oh and they have some pretty incredible...
