The Wouters family has had a love of softball since 1965 and has strived to be “the place” for it since then. They have owned several buildings in Brown County but in 1974 they landed at their current location, which has a softball field in their backyard. I have had the pleasure of watching several bar league softball games here.
Tonight we decided to try them out for food, specifically their fish fry.
We ordered their cheese curds for an appetizer, a bowl of clam chowder, the baked cod with a baked potato and the all you can eat haddock.
The cheese curds were delicious, squeaky and cheesy.
The clam chowder was very silky and smooth, however needed some salt and pepper.
The baked cod was a very nice size piece of fish, but the preparation was lacking.
The haddock normally starts with three pieces but the server suggested to start with four, which I did. They are very favorable sizes of fish. The batter is nice and crispy. The downfall though was that there was zero seasoning.
The portion sizes are great. The prices are great. The food was just too bland.
The restaurant/bar overall had a great atmosphere. The service was fantastic, quick and friendly.

Read moreI Was super excited as I haven’t tried this place before heard but great things. We did go on Father’s Day so we expected it was going to be busy. We got sat right away, ordered the family style chicken and expected we would be waiting longer because we know how long it takes. An hour goes by, and our server lets us know that it’s going to be up shortly, but then comes back again to let us know it’s going to be another 45 minutes…. Apparently they bumped our order back as people with reservations came early? We were also told apparently it was a “reservation only” day… so why did you seat us? We were just very disappointed with the poor communication and they also made us pay for our drinks and appetizer. Please...
Read moreGood place to eat if you're just looking to have an all around good time. Food is pretty good, especially the fish and burgers, but mostly just go there for the atmosphere. Everybody gets treated like a local, the whole staff is EXTREMELY nice. Bit of a warning however, no covid precautions are in place (as in no masks required, for staff or employees, although hand sanitizer is there. Could be a good or bad thing depending on how concerned you are about covid), and the waits can be pretty long, but such is to be expected seeing how packed it can get at times, and the rather tiny kitchens....
