There is much to say about this coffee shop, but I will begin with a poem to set the tone:
At lunchtime I bought a huge orange— The size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave— They got quarters and I had a half. And that orange, it made me so happy, As ordinary things often do Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park. This is peace and contentment. It’s new. The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all the jobs on my list And enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you. I’m glad I exist. — Wendy Cope
Blendin is the orange, and I am Wendy. I will now discuss Robert and Dave, and the other characters. This review will only cover four such characters, but I hope this will encourage you to discover the others on your own.
Robert: Robert is Abram. Of course. Abram is a barista, but he is also so much more. Abram is to baristas as the ender dragon is to the minecraft realm. On hardcore mode. Specifically with gamer youtuber Danny Gonzales playing. That is to say, Abram, with his latte art skill and hordes of animal stickers, is not only the final boss, but also, you come to realize, the entire point of everything you have built your entire life. Every monster you have faced has led you to the dragon, and he will serve you beautiful coffee. One word to describe Abram is bonhomie, or “good homie”.
Dave: Dave is Michael. I think you must have suspected this. Michael is a barista, yes, but only in the sense that he is also a cryptid mind, a piquant soul, and a pair of heinously dirty red converse. Michael is the oxford comma; absolutely necessary for those with finer taste and a keen sense of whimsy. Michael is to baristas as Rainbow Dash is to My Little Pony; essential, iconic, inevitable. He is not everyone’s main character, but he is your main character today at blendin. One word to describe michael is paroxysm, or an explosion of contrast.
Walk in the park: This phrase must, as it did for me, immediately speak to you of Kenzie. Kenzie is fresh air, a summer breeze, the imprint left from a wet frog that has hopped away. Kenzie is not only effortlessly pleasant, but also effortlessly knowledgeable about coffee. She has new york style with countryside ease. Kenzie is to baristas as the plant in WALL-E is to humanity; life changing, world defining, peacefulness encapsulated in a chic boot. In a world of robots, Kenzie is organic. One word to describe Kenzie is bibelot, or delightful and unique.
Lunchtime: Iris. Lunch time, like Iris, is fleeting and precious. Lunchtime is the highlight of most everyone’s day. Lunchtime is a vibrant and exciting hour that juxtaposes the corporate drudgery so prevalent in the american zeitgeist. I had to use that word at least once, unfortunately for you. That word is also the word I would use to describe Iris. She is, directly or indirectly, influencing your life in devastatingly important ways. And how wonderful an influence she is! Iris is everything and everywhere, and she knows everything about you. Hooray! We are blessed to exist in such a presence, if only for a moment, for that...
Read moreCame here for a frappe. To my dismay, they don't serve them.
Friendly guy behind the counter said they don't have a blender and don't garnish there drinks with whip cream. 😱 Bummer. 😐
But I made the trip🚘, and the place has a nice ambiance, so I gave their iced mocha a go.
It was good, but it could have been better IMO if they would've used less ice.
When there is more ice than you want, you can't let the drink sit while you sit or it'll get watered down.
But that's an easy fix. I'll just request less ice in the future.
I do want to share how friendly the staff was. It was my first visit and I explained to the Barista that I am not big on coffee but do enjoy frappes, especially when they come with chocolate. 🍫😋
The Barista was understanding, considerate to my taste, and patient.
To sum, the drink wasn't memorable but the service and the location certainly are.
The shop is in a neighborhood adjacent to U.S. Highway 90, which is a major route.
Despite its proximity to a busy highway, it is remarkably quite.
The interior is bright and clean due to the white walls, and windows that nearlly span the height from the floor to the ceiling.
It also has a nice covered patio with seating that looks like it was converted from a bank teller drive thru.
A draw back, the interior seating isn't cush. So if you're looking for a coffee shop to sit back in a soft seat, recline and enjoy a book 📑, conversation, surf the web, etc, then you'll be out of luck.
In all, worth a visit. Indeed, this neighbordhood coffee ☕ club in Sugar Land, TX sweetly "Blends In" amongst the concrete 🌁 and greenery 🏡 like no other coffee shop I've ever...
Read moreCoffee isn't bad and the cafe is very aesthetically pleasing but customer service is a hit or miss depending on who takes your order.
They have outlets here but be warned the wifi doesn't work and workers here refuse to fix it. They said there is nothing they could do about it. Well I'll show you what to do: Log into your router, turn off the guest network or rename it then rebroadcast. Done.
I would love to come here more often to do work on the computer but the lack of wifi is a deal breaker for this location. Also there isn't enough seats to accommodate more than 20 people so depending on when you come seating could be unavailable.
As of now they sort of have a monopoly on coffee shop in sugar land, but from my experience they are at risk of getting outted when a better coffee shop opens up. After traveling to different coffee shops in different countries I can say with certainly that this prospect is likely to happen. There are excellent, beautiful and cheaper coffee shops all over the world. For Blendin to not value their customer base is a huge mistake so fix the Wifi for goodness sake.
It's unfortunate that this review has to focus on the negative. However it is hard to enjoy a cafe if it doesn't have wifi. You should still come and drink some coffee and read your book or whatever but understand that this place doesn't want to cater to customers who need a to do some work on...
