Very disappointing. We called this restaurant at 9:45pm on Wednesday 10/6/2022 and inquired how long the kitchen was going to be open as we just arrived in town. They informed us that the late night menu was available until midnight which was great news as we had a long drive and were very tired. We knew it was late and we didn’t want to arrive at a restaurant 10 minutes before closing time to be rude which is why we called ahead asking this specific question. We arrived at 10:05pm and ordered one round of drinks. The bartender was quite rude and her personality lacked that of a piece of cardboard. We let it slide as we were happy to be in town for a friends wedding. We then ordered our food by 10:15 and was told the kitchen closed at 10pm. I informed the bartender that we called ahead of time and we’re told they served a late night menu until midnight. She said “someone must’ve came in at 9:59p and ordered all of the prepared food”. What a joke. We looked at everyone else in the restaurant and there weren’t any customers with food anywhere. We spoke to the manager on duty and she said there was nothing they could do. I understand labor shortages and food shortages but they could’ve easily told us this on the phone as we literally called 15 minutes earlier to make sure they were still open and serving food. They didn’t care at all and just asked if we lived here. When we said no they seemed relieved. We paid for our drinks and left. We will...
Read moreI'm not one to fault a place for "poor" service, but I also think good service should be specially commended: our server (the youngest one at that location) was truly delightful, helpful, attentive, sincere.
best. nachos. EVER. And I am a bit of a nachos connoisseur, and also picky because I make my own most of the time. Three different salsas, all yummy, and I echo what other reviewers have said about the pulled pork--stellar even without sauce.
House beer, brewed specially for Home Team, idk if I just didn't know I liked goose, but it was the perfectly citrusy complement to the sauce.
the sauce! Not a connoisseur of BBQ, but the Red and the Hot Red, I could take a bath in it--acidic without being too vinegary, and it had a depth of flavor beyond the tomato paste, idk idk, it was so yum.
we also ordered a rack of ribs because that's apparently what they're famous for, and I can confirm the hype is warranted. I am not a ribs person, but the char, the cut, and then add the sauce, wayyyyy good.
for sides, the cuke + tomato salad is a winner, Brunswick stew was meh, too...
While on a guy's trip, we went to the Home Team on Sullivan's Island to watch college football, drink, and eat BBQ. This is one of my good friend's favorite restaurants and I also love this place. They have an impressive selection of craft beer as well as a full bar. If you want to drink, you need to order a Game Changer. It is a frozen drink with rum, orange & pineapple juice, and cream of coconut with a dash of nutmeg. This is a fantastic drink. You can even add a floater, which is a shot of liquor on top. We were a party of 7, so we ordered a bunch of appetizers, including the smoked chicken wings, BBQ nachos, pork cracklins with pimento cheese, and the Tots. They were all so good. The wings are cooked perfectly and are some of the best wings I have ever had. For dinner, I had the ribs with a side a chili and mac & cheese. I enjoyed all of it. The Home Team is a great restaurant and sports bar. I wished they had this restaurant where I live, as I would be here all of the time. The food, drinks, and service are remarkable, and I highly recommend...
