Republic Ice Cream — Restaurant in Sullivan's Island

Please read so you will know how upset we were about this place after hearing about it on social media. My friends and I entered through other side of the ice cream shop and got in the back of the line (the other door was blocked by other ppl and the line was already wrapping the other side anyways). One of the workers told us we entered the wrong side and we thought nothing of since the line was already wrapping around. We were going to wait at the back of the line that again, had already wrapped past the other entrance and he started saying that it would be an issue because other people would start entering through that door, which they did but the line went back to normal after 3 minutes. When we got to be the next to order the guy skipped us and went on to the next people in line (who also entered from the wrong door). They tried to say we were in front of them but the guy said "no it's okay I’m going to serve everyone else first". After ordering, I went back to talk to the owner about it to apologize for coming in the wrong way but we felt it was rude and poor service to ignore someone directly like that out of pettiness. The ice cream was not that good, it was grainy and made my stomach hurt. Treating a customer like that is rude, especially someone that has never been there and wanted to try something new. I don’t recommend this place and the employee is just rude and petty just because we entered through the wrong door, that was also not marked as an exit door.

P.S The bathroom didn’t have any toilet paper or paper towels, they just had napkins sitting on top of the toilet for...

It’s Nov 2023. This place is perfectly located right next to the beach. Uses excellent ingredients & makes it all by hand. And yet reading some reviews you’d think they were serving store bought generic brand ice cream and over charging.

So, heads up low standard cheap people. You’re in a tourist spot. You’re gonna pay more. You’re eating homemade food made with real easy to pronounce ingredients. You’re gonna pay more. You want $2 options? Go to WalMart and then complain how nothing is made in the USA anymore…

Everything is Gluten Free. Cones included. And they even have waffle cones (yes - gluten free). Homemade ice cream (including cookies & cream which again is Gluten Free). Stellar ingredients in the ice cream. Regular vanilla & chocolate had all of 4 or 5 total ingredients. On other flavors I noticed coconut oil which in 2023 is a big deal since everyone is terrified of seed oils (soybean, safflower, sunflower, etc).

The ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had. Huge noticeable difference in taste. And the gluten free waffle cone? I’ve no idea how they do it. The only “tell” was it’s more brittle (as most gluten free pastries are) than a wheat waffle cone. But the taste? Identical.

if you watch your health, then this ice cream shop is for you! It's been 5 years since I switched to a healthy diet (without gluten, palm oil and chemicals, which causes different inflammation in your body. And much worse.) But sometimes I want something sweet. .. such as chocolate or ice cream. But, as you look through different stores and never-ending ingredient lists, all the desire disappears. Therefore I was very lucky to find a republic ice cream! It is wonderful . Ice cream is smooth not too sweet, but also has a pleasant aftertaste. But the most important is excellent ingredients! and you feet it from the first spoon. you can enjoy ice cream without fear for your health. So from now on every time I pass by this place I must make a stop). I advise you to visit this place at least once, because they have not only a wonderful ice cream, but also excellent coffee and friendly staff ) Thank you very much,...
